Apparently this story is a hoax. According to today's KC Star.....The Lawrence Journal-World who reported the story got the information from someone claiming to be Neil Cornrich (Fatmangino's agent).
Why would Mangino want to go anywhere? He's getting paid well, his fanbase expects very little of him, and he's built ku into a decent team. Unless he's as stupid as he looks, he should want to keep his portly ass in Lawrence.
