Indirect recruiting tool...

The second player acquired on draft night just might be the first to contribute as a rookie.
James White, the 6-7 Cincinnati product acquired from Portland in a trade of second-round picks, was one of several young players to make a strong impression with the Pacers' team in the Pepsi Pro Summer League last week in Orlando. White averaged 12.4 points in five games, led the team in free-throws attempted (28) and made (25) and showed a generally advanced floor game that reflected his four years of college experience.
"The guy knows how to play,"
said Chuck Person, who shared the coaching duties with fellow assistant Dan Burke.
"He comes from a defensive system with (former
coach Bob) Huggins
in Cincinnati that he knew how to play and had a good feel for the game.
His learning curve is going to be a little quicker because he has played. We saw some good things out of James obviously at the two-guard, and we played him some at the three and the one and he showed some promise at all three positions."
You can't pay for PR like that. Thank you Tim Weiser.
