So I'm interested in getting some stuff on newsgroups. Supposedly Cox has free newsgroups, but I can't get it to work. I keep getting an error. Is anyone doing this that could help?

newsgroups were the crap five years ago before torrents made a splash.  newsgroups are still faster than torrents in most cases (depending on the pipe of everyone else and amount of seeds).

I don't know how you can mess it up though :D  just put in the newsgroup address and download the headers.

Shot in the dark here, but if you are using a software interface it might be by default trying to use a port on your pc that is not open?  There is usually a way to change the port, though I can't tell you off the top a good alternative.  Also, if you are behind a firewall you may have to do some redirects to get out.

This is what that sounds like to me:

The error message is "502 Cannot connect to NNTP server (my IP address), connect error 10013.

I want to use it to download HD movies. Torrents options are limited.
