do non-IT people ever look at internet logs/usage?  seriously, I'm pretty bad at surfing too much at work but there are some people that, that's all they do.  i gotta think no one really either a) cares or b) knows

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

IT people generally don't care.  Managers care, so to answer your question, yes.

They aren't your rules to make.

Last time an IT drone told me that a Sun rep was sitting in my office and he gave me a really cool lesson on hacking Solaris.  After obtaining root access on pretty much the entire IT network they caved.  Didn't want to have to admit to management that the hundred or so of them couldn't keep me lil' ol' me off their highly secure servers.

I don't even remember how many times folks in my group reformatted their drives and locked IT out.

and i echo that.  at my last job, my manager fired people over where they would browse, and the contents of their email.  I guess there were some problems about inappropriate use of PC's before I worked there.  She had me constantly checking people's history, cookies, and their email even more often.

I'm actually lucky I was the IT guy, because some posts on this site definitely could have got me fired.

I love the smell of peat in the evening.  That smell, you know that earthy smell...  Smells like...whisky !
