Does VT have a contract with ESPN or something?  This will be two weeks straight they've played on thursday night.   :dunno:

It's another case of ESPN beating the hell out of a dead horse.

VT has been on a lot, this will be their 17th time.  But for Georgia Tech this will be their 20th ESPN thursday night game.

considering the teams you just mentioned are both big east you might think it is part of the conferences agreement with abc/espn.  :cyclist:

ACC, but Big East before.  Yeah, that makes a difference, especially the last few years.  VT made their name in part b/c of ESPN thurday night games.

I remember the ksu thursday night game years ago vs minnesota. I wish the big 12 could set somethin up like that. Great way to get the entire nation to watch your program.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
I've always wondered how Thursday night ratings compared to Saturday games.

Minnesota?

The only 2 thursday night games I remember are that dreadful game vs ISU (which we won, still a sloppy game) and the win at ku which was a really fun game and where Running almost got his head tore off.  Both games vs Minnesota were on saturdays in the 90s.

For the big 12 it seems like a great way for the nation to watch you lose @ Troy St.  I'm looking at you Oklahoma St and Missouri.  :chainsaw:

ESPN will beat that Campus Shooting Drum for as long as people will pay attention. I think the Gameday there did it justice - move on. BTW, if I have to hear one more bantor about Blacksburg and the mistique of that MF stadium as annicdoted by Lee Corso - I am going to stick letter openers in his eyes. (I looked around my desk, and that was the only really threatening thing I could find)

Does anyone remember that game when the lightening struck something? Corso (or the like) used that as an excuse to babble about the stadium at nauseum. ENOUGH!

Thursday night games are good for getting on TV and having everyone watch you, but it would suck if you were going to the game. You would have to go to work/school the next day, tailgating would be lame, and on Saturday you would just sit around with your thumb up your butt.  I'm really glad the Big 12 doesn't do this.

I would be willing to play VT on Thursday when we play them if we get the previous week off.

After the second Thursday game Snyder said he would never play on Thursday night again.  Even though we were not yet much of a television commodity (and there were fewer games on), Snyder said something like we have to get good enough to be televised on Saturdays.

Don't schools play on Thursday night now when they aren't even being televised?  What's the point of that?

That is true, but there is also no doubt in my mind if Prince could get a thursday night game he'd be all over it.

Another good reason to do it.

Snyder would never have played a Big 8/12 game if he didn't have to.
Welcome back, Bill.

I'm pretty sure it's a contract thing with the conference.  The Big 12 won't do it.

Prince has made it public knowledge and isn't afraid to say so... he will showcase this team whenever and where ever he gets a chance. I could see us on Thursday night next year. I would watch, and if it were a good game, on Saturday - I would reflect. (and stick my thumb up my butt )
