The Bears are 3-5 (0-4) with wins over Rice, Texas State-San Marcos and at Buffalo and losses at tcu, Texas A&M and Kansas and to Colorado and Texas.

QB Blake Szymanski has completed 54% of his passes so far in 2007 for 1,934 yards with 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He threw for 412 yards against Rice and also had 400+ yard passing games against Texas State-San Marcos and Colorado.

RB's Brandon Whitaker and Jay Finley have rushed for a combined 435 yards (4 yards/carry) and 3 touchdowns. Whitaker had 57 yards rushing and 14 yards receiving at Buffalo. He also had a receiving TD. Finley had 80 yards at Buffalo and also had 4 catches for 45 yards (11 yards/catch) and a TD against Texas State-San Marcos.

Whitaker and Finley will run behind an offensive line that starts three upperclassmen (LT Jason Smith, LG Dan Gay and RG Chad Smith) and two sophomores (C J.D. Walton and RT Thad Boatner).   

WR's Justin Akers and David Gettis are Szymanski's go to guys. Akers has 398 yards on 35 catches (11 yards/catch) with four touchdowns. His biggest game came against Texas State-San Marcos where he had 95 yards on 7 catches (14 yards/catch). He had two touchdowns against Rice, another one at Buffalo and another one against Colorado. Gettis has 344 yards on 24 catches (14 yards/catch). His biggest game came against Colorado where he had 99 yards on 8 catches (12 yards/catch).

On defense Baylor returns 8 of their Top 10 tacklers. Their leader is MLB Joe Pawelek who lead the team with 86 tackles a season ago.

QB Michael Machen is expected to get the start for Baylor. Machen has completed 56% of his passes so far in 2007 for 231 yards with 1 touchdown and 4 interceptions. He threw for 231 yards against Texas.

He was also drafted by Atlanta to play baseball for two years and spent another year with Baltimore.

Baylor is 0-5 when the opponent scores first. K-State has scored first in all its games.
