K-State is pushing Nelson, a senior wide receiver, for national honors. Interim sports information director Kenny Lannou sent e-mails Tuesday to the media that usually covers the Wildcats, plus an additional 60-70 to national media that don’t cover K-State on a regular basis. The e-mail includes Nelson’s statistics plus video clips.

K-State is pushing Nelson for All-America, Big 12 Conference and Biletnikoff Award (presented to the nation’s top receiver) honors. Nelson is No. 2 in the nation in receptions per game (9.71), fourth in receiving yards (129) and 22nd in all-purpose yards (153.9).

It's a tremendous challenge here. I think it has the opportunity for the greatest turnaround in college football. It is not one to be taken lightly. ---------- Bill Snyder ( Nov 30th, 1988)
