KSU & ku fans need to get a life. I don’t get the point of KSU fans and ku fans bashing one another over recruiting.
If anybody on this forum has ever been recruited in any sport, they know there are many elements at play in the recruiting process
The coach tries to sell his philosophy and the program.
The athlete thinks about playing time, maybe TV exposure, personal ties to the university, relationships w/ a coaching staff, etc. In many cases, academics is a factor
The whole point of recruiting a player is telling them what they want to hear. Martin is telling Little that he will be an immediate impact at KSU, if Walker leaves next year. If Walker needs another year, then Little will get a chance the following year. If Martin can sell the KSU program to Little, then ku fan should not be surprised if Little commits to KSU.
History shows that many players have turned their back on the elite programs (ku, Duke, uk, NC, etc) to play for a non-traditional power. Kevin Durant was recruited by some traditional powers, only to choose Texas.
Many fans around the nation were questioning the reason Beasley picked KSU. What helped the KSU staff is the fact that a member of their staff had a relationship w/ Beasley for a number of years. His decision was not based on the tradition of KSU basketball, its fans, or the national exposure that KSU bball receives yearly. It was evident that Beasley wanted out of his commitment to KSU last year, when Huggins broke the hearts of KSU nation and left for WVU.
BTW KSU fan, Phillip McDonald is not the first player to not commit to ku, only to commit to a non-traditional power. Nor will he be the last. Jason Kidd and Harold Minor are 2 players that come mind.
It happens every year to every traditional power program.
