Suspended Kansas State tight end Rashaad Norwood pled not guilty Wednesday stemming from two arrests in a four-hour span Aug. 19 in Manhattan, Kan., according to a spokesman in Riley County district court.

Norwood, a senior from Schlagle High School, will have his next court date Sept. 17.

He was arrested for domestic battery, criminal damage to property, criminal trespassing and obstruction of the legal process. Norwood showed up early in the morning Aug. 19 at the apartment of a girl he had dated, and after knocks on her door and calls to her phone went unanswered, he allegedly broke a sliding glass door with a chair to gain entry.

Norwood, according to Riley County police, forced his way into a locked bedroom and pushed the woman onto the bed. There were no injuries. Norwood left the scene on foot, and was chased down by the police.

After posting bail, Norwood returned to the apartment and was arrested again, this time for criminal trespassing.

K-State coach Ron Prince said after the arrests that Norwood would be suspended, and his status would be re-evaluated after the legal process ran its course.

I can see it now....

Defense Attorney - "Please bring in the bed...I give you defense exhibit 1-a...Now ladies and gentlemen of the jury I ask you, if Mr. Norwood can't fit under that bed, how could he be guilty?...If the bed doesn't fit you must acquit!"

Which is why he should have pled guilty and get it over with.
