Ok you guys win, the iPhone is the best phone ever. 

Tell your network buddies building out 4G that Wi-Fi doesn't chain you to a point of coverage.

They need a laugh.  So does Motorola.

That must be the hardware unlock I read about on Gizmodo.  A month or so ago a group came up with a software unlock using a particular type of SIM card, I think.
