Why doesn't Leon just get a credit card and max it out paying his fees or go to one of the local banks and get a loan?  The issue of the short term loan is finding a bank that considers student aid income.  It seems this issue is being made to sound far worse than it really is other than the fact Leon is not smart for getting himself in this situation.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Did Leon Patton have a problem with financial aid or something?

Or a local alumni should place an evelope full of money in Patton's mailbox with a note that says "good luck against Auburn, now go paying your f'ing fees".
