Guy emailed me this quote...

"(Brown) came here to play. He didn't come here to sit the bench," said Kansas State head coach Ron Prince. "We had a lot of discussions about that during his recruitment."

Any doubt that the "discussions" didn't go like this...

Lamark:  "Coach, are you telling me that if I committ to KSU, you'll guarantee that I play as a freshman?"

Prince:  "Yes."

Lamark:  "I want to start."

Prince: "Will do."

I am not sure I really care, in fact that may be exactly what went wrong with Snyder's recruiting in the later years....but it does make me chuckle that so many powertards would sooner bathe in a pool of ticks before they accepted the fact that Ron promises starting gigs to recruits.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
I chuckle when people act like this is a new recruiting phenomenon.

I agree.  Makes them look stupid when they honestly believe that things like this don't happen.

Not to mention that it's actually a part of the recruiting process in EA Sports NCAA Football series...   You would think Jayhawks would think that's the norm as according to them, It's identical to real life.

Everyone knows that Lamark and Wilson and Gonzalez will be sharing snaps in the preseason anyway...it's called building depth. It's not even a question who's the best athlete of those three.
"You guys want answers that are conversations between John and I. I ain't worried about it. I'm living the dream.... When I start worrying about a contract, I'd be cheating the kids and not doing my job." - Frank Martin

Gotta defend Snyder and Prince.  I know both of them.  They are not so dumb as to promise an unproven 18 year old a starting job.  Like any reasonable recruiter, they told the kid, "If you prove yorself, you can play."

I think if JF was promised the starting job, it would have been his from day one.  Everyone "knew" it was neck and neck between him and DM.  How easy would it have been for Prince to say, all things being equal, we are going to play for the future?  Personally, I think he didn't do it because JF wasn't ready.  In fact, had it not been out of necessity, he might even have redshirted him.  IMO
