If you just look at stats, we look like a middle-of-the-pack team.  The only exception is FG% defense (we're #1).

Consistent defense "should" put you in position to win most games, home or away.  We'll see if we can manage it enough down the stretch to get 7 more wins. 

CU is a tough match-up in transition defense, so I don't think we'll see that issue show up a lot down the stretch.  The disappointing thing is that we've gotten pretty solid offense in both road losses (70+ points) for this team to win AND outshot our opponents %-wise.  However, we had one key issue in each (TOs in one, transition defense in the other) that we weren't able to overcome.  The big questions this team will have to answer is can they avoid/overcome the issues that show up on the road AND not have another NU-type game at home. 

Like Tech, OU, @ NU, and @ UT last year; we now have @ ISU and @ CU as "woulda, shoulda" games.  Can this team avoid having 2 more or another NU (CU last year) type loss?  We'll see, but I agree with you Rusty that 7-3 looks tough right now. 

We'll see more clearly in a week or so, if we can get 3 in a row, 4-3 will look more doable.  Just looking at "7-3" and its tough to be overly optimistic.

The thing is, the "woulda, shoulda" games are what has killed Wooldridge consistantly the last 3 or 4 seasons.  EVERY close loss is devastating for this team, because they turn into a "woulda, shoulda" at the end of the year.  They just can't afford to give away potential wins - I don't care if it's to one of the best teams in the conference or not.

KSU still could have won.  The box score from that game sucks, so I can't tell for sure, but they were within a basket quite a few times in the second half.

They just couldn't get a stop when they needed it.

I'm not as disappointed looking back with the loss at CU as I am in the ISU loss.  

But Rusty is right; holding Roby to under 20, CU to 43% shooting, getting 23 from Lance, outshooting CU from 3, and only having 13 TOs are things that really stick out as you look at the boxscore.

We didn't feel bad about the ISU loss initially, then they got punked at home three times and now we feel disapointed.

I agree that bad luck has nothing to do with it.  It's just that if he's gonna lose (he is), I wish he could get blown out once in a while so I don't have to deal with him anymore.  He's tricked me into thinking his team's had a chance in games waayyyyy too much.

Fatty, I don't agree about ISU.  I really think CU is a better team overall.  They play similar, somewhat undisciplined styles and Patton simply has better athletes and a better scorer than Morgan.  I don't think CU will run away from us, and I see us battling CU for a NCAA spot more than I see us battling ISU for one.  ISU is really weak inside and not nearly as athletic overall as CU despite having one of the best guard tandems in the country.  Those home losses will come back to haunt them.
