Mechanics you trust in Manhattan?

Just blew a rod in my '02 Stratus and I'm going to have to have somebody drop an engine in it.  F*CK!  I'd rather it be somebody that I know but since I don't run in the mechanic circles now I'm just looking for somebody I can trust and who will do good work.

Burnett Automotive on the corner of Hayes and McCall right by Wal-Mart.  They always do an awesome job when I have car problems and they will straight up tell me whether I need to fix something or not.  And they are the cheapest I have found for most car problems.

Well, my dad just sold his shop at the end of February so I can't recommend anybody really.  I do work for a dealership here in town but not in the mechanical side.  There are a lot of good independant shops here in Manhattan though.

6-Cylinder 240 VDOH... little bigger than a lawn mower.  Now I do have a Nissan Altima that sounds like its got an lawn mower engine in it.  Of course it has 200,000 + miles on it and runs like a champ.  F*cking domestic cars!

P.S.  I called Tim and asked for the Big John Special.  I think he was very uncomfortable... my work is done.

you won't get crap for that car broken; nor would a replaced engine add value to the car; so don't expect to replace the engine and get a blue book value on the mileage of the new engine.   You're &@#%ed if you're thinking of selling it, unless you sell it to a mechanic for retail value minus cost of new engine.  Just get it fixed and drive it for a long time.  Then sell it private party when you're tired of it.

That's why I'm trying to find somebody to put in the engine, I think I might have found that shop in Burnett's.

Yes. I had great luck myself but two friends that I referred there had a quite different experience recently.

Yes. I had great luck myself but two friends that I referred there had a quite different experience recently.

The beauty of auto repair.  I have lived my whole life in this business and it is either great or horrible.  Doctors can be wrong with thier diagnosis of symptoms and you just have to go back or to another doctor.  If a shop or mechanic is wrong and it costs more people are pissed.  I am slowly trying to work my way out of the car business for that very reason. 

If you haven't checked yet I would probably recommend Car Clinic.  They are established and well respected.
