With the incoming of now four JUCO OL per http://kansasstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=56168

and two consistent returners in Jordan Bedore and Caleb Handy and a hand full of others that could possibly present some good competition for starting spots.

Could this be the year we see a consistent OL??

I hope so... :ksu:

These latest commits are '08 guys. Our best hope for this year is Alesana (and some off the wall coaching).

No. We just got a 2007 commitment. From the same school as Sims. Another 2007 O-Line recruit. He's talking about our 2007 Jucos. Try to keep up.

Well.... it was my bad, after all (also, I have a day job, so I don't spend every waking moment pouring through this stuff).I was wondering why he wasn't added to the Rivals '08 commit list yet. Also... is it typical to have a commit this late? Signing day is long past. I'm sure there's a big book about NCAA signing guidelines governing junior college commits... I just don't care to look it up.  :fatty: Did he wait to qualify before committing I wonder?

BTW... no success on finding a vid... can't even find him listed on Scout anywhere, and the college website stinks (found Manu still listed on their roster).

If a kid doesn't qualify then he can become available again. My guess is that that is what happened. We probably found out about him through Sims who played on the same Juco team with him..

Benoit visited Baylor and Iowa State, and both passed on him once they found out he was not a midyear. His only offer was ULaLa, and that offer did not come until March (rivals had that wrong when I looked earlier). Enter Coach Scarsmar. Since there isn't any room for him in the 2007 class unless someone else fails to qualify, many are speculating Sims won't qualify since he is a 2 to play 2 guy and has to finish all those hours.

All right... makes sense now. Good info! BTW, if Sims qualifies, then what do we do with our schollies?

We will see a new type of OLineman with prince.  Quick feet instead of maulers.

I don't care how they're built as long as they can block!

Expecting JuCo offensive linemen to just come in and pick up what they need to do in the Big 12 after missing spring drills is not a good idea.  It isn't like all these guys were full qualifiers so to be honest, they aren't the brightest guys usually if they aren't December graduates.  Sure some might start but does that really say anything, especially amongst our guards?

2008 will be the season KSU's offensive line will give KSU fans the first real look of what Prince can do with the group.  All these JuCo kids will have been in the program for a season as well as been in the KSU conditioning/strength program.  For example, Sims is rail thin.

We won't have to throw true freshmen on the field if we sustain a few injuries.
