I know most here are still in the Snyder mindset of play patsies until you "get ready" for Big XII play, but what does Auburn think?  Do we represent a possible risk?  Do we seem to be an upset risk?  Do we seem to be a warm up patsie ala a directional school "South nobody state"?  I would think some would be concerned.  We have nothing to lose in this game. NOBODY expects us to win.  I think we can take them due to all the pressure being on Auburn. I could be wrong. maybe.

I thought I was wrong once,  but I was mistaken.

*A GREAT RUMBLING OF BASS AND MUCH SHAKING*
The thing I see working against you is that Auburn has had a salty defense in the past few years (I saw them in person at the Cotton Bowl...jesus they're fast) and  you guys haven't had a very good O-line recently, so that could be a serious problem for you. If your defense can hold up, it should be a low-scoring affair, but as of right now Auburn has much better athletes, and considering it's at their place I don't think you have much of a chance there. The good thing is that your team will have nothing to lose as you said, FWIW.

I don't think it was accidental.

I could see us getting a fg or 2 if they fumble or throw a pick.

The only chance we have with Auburn is the fact we are playing them early. In the past, the Auburn Tigers have slipt up a bit early on. Not to say that we have a shot, but if there is a glimmer of hope.... :beerchug:

Keep this in your back pocket for Auburn week: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/14/sports/ncaafootball/14auburn.html?ex=1310529600&en=895a3f92b678660d&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss

Since I know none of you will read a 2,000+ word in-depth story, I'll give you the Cliff Notes version: Auburn cheats in the classroom.

Find a school in the SEC that doesn't.

For that matter, find one in the Big 12, too. Let me know what you come up with...

Auburn isn't worried a bit about KSU.  The only thing that concerns them is that it is the first game of the year, and Auburn fans are still haunted by their performance vs. Georgia Tech two years ago.  I have a bunch of friends that are Auburn Alums and one is giving me 17 points.  They have no interest in making the trip back home for the KSU game either, they would rather go to a conference game later in the year, a sign that this is not a big game to them.

I don't think we will get destroyed down there next year, and them not thinking much of us could definitely be to our advantage.  But, the way KSU ended last year, I am not so confident that we won't get blown out.  Not only is the verdict still out on Prince, he and that staff still have much to prove.  Bold and Daring better take a backseat next year to Smart and Savvy.

Your point is noted. It's just that not every D-1 school gets a big write-up from the NYT. But yes, I'm sure the same piece could have been written for any university, with different names for professors/students.

That said, I'm pretty sure Vandy has never done anything wrong, ever, in the Gordon Gee era. Or at least that's what Gordon Gee says.

In a word: NO

But, I do think if KSU's defense can play well, I think they'll be in the game in the 3rd quarter. Auburn lost a lot of talent from last years team, and IMO Cox (qb) sucks. No Irons, lost ton of OL, and Auburn has started seasons slow in the past.

If the O-line can do anything against their D, Patton/JJ might be able to do something.  But, those are both speed backs, and thats what Auburn has,  speed.

We just need walking turnover to limit the mistakes in a hostile environment.    :hope:

I don't see why they should be concerned.  Even if we win the game the media spin will be that it was early in the season blah blah blah...

Remind me to tell you the back story on that NYT piece. Pete Thamel is a friend...

Back story.......you mean reporting news is not just that......facts and news with no intention of writing for a specific slant....I am appalled to hear that, just shocked I thought it all could be taken for what it is reporting the facts as is :ohno:

Maybe we will get them to punt, the punter will be watching the game on the big screen, forget to go out on the field and the long snapper will hike the ball out the back of the endzone.

Aren't Auburn and KSU the two schools that got in trouble for having the easy football classes that only athletes could take?

I think if auburn overlooks KSU.  I could see a close game.  Early on defenses are ahead of offense.  This may not apply if we can get some passing going.  Quick scores.  make aurbun play catch up.  Hit them fast and win.

However, I think more likely our passing game will be sacked and our running game tackled behind the line of scrimmage.  This is what out Bold and savy, smart and daring coaches must find a way to prevent.

Auburn could overlook us and still win by 14+.  If we score more than 17 points we should count it as a win in our record books.

How was their PR and KR coverage last year?  Does anyone know if we have an edge with Special Teams?

I'll admit that I don't know crap about Auburn other than they barely beat NU in a boring bowl game last year.

I'll admit that I don't know @#%$ about Auburn other than they barely beat NU in a boring bowl game last year.

That game was more about Auburn playing down to Nebraska than Nebraska playing up to Auburn's level.  The games that are important to them are conference and BCS games.  It was a burden to Auburn that they had to play in Dallas vs. a bad Nebraska team, I don't take to much away from that game, I'm glad I didn't watch.
