It seems crazy to me too but, and I know nothing about text messaging, is there a way to limit the number of text messages people send? I would think they would allow it if there was a way for the NCAA to manage the number of text messages that are sent. Probably not possible though.

I think he means the NCAA regulating texting, not personal regulation.  AD offices could be required to submit backberry/cell billing statements.  But that could be against privacy acts as far as finding out who's number was texted to 500 times.

i hear ya, i'm just guessing that the ncaa's justification is that they're trying to protect hs kids from getting bombarded with text messages from recruiters.

but the best way to stop that is for kids not to give out their cell numbers to folks they don't want texting them.

this is something that was bound to happen and actually should happen.  its been a loophole for schools for a few years now.  im not saying its unfair to text message kids but there should be some kind of rule across the board so that every school is held to the same standard.  im curious as to what the actual rule is/will be.

hmmm, so what will stop any coach from picking up a tracfone (where no name or ID are required) and texting them all they want, how will the NCAA ever prove who was using it at any given time?  Sounds like an easy one to get around to me.

thats true in that there is no standard.  im pretty sure that snyder wasnt going around text messaging his recruits like prince does.
