Can Martin or Hill coach college basketball at the Big 12 level (or, Div I)? I've seen quotes going around with Huggins praising the two men's abilities while on his staff this past year. But, are either of them ready to be head coach at a Div. I program? I admit, I'm torn on how Weiser should proceed. Retain Martin or Hill (or both) and keep the recruits, but find that neither are ready and can't coach on gamedays, then the program will not improve. One horrible coaching year will also affect recruiting, if players don't think the K-State program can take them to the next level.
Of course, Steve Henson - while he maybe a long-term solution - doesn't have any name recognition or not enough to probably keep the recruiting class together.
I'd like to think K-State could find an established and successful head coach at a smaller program that could come in and convince the recruiting class to stay. Then again, that kind of describes Huggins, and he just burned us (even though it's hard to fault a man for going home. It appears he isn't going to make any more money, either).
