I can't say I know why he would make this public knowledge.  Any thoughts on the logic behind saying "I haven't been contacted" vs. a simple "No comment"?

Saying "no comment" can be interpreted as "I'm currently in negotiations with that very school," as some did with the KSU "no comment" several days ago.  The more people think you're in final negotiations with a school (especially with the "it's as good as done" rumors flying about Mizzou), the less likely you are to get interest expressed from other potential suitors.

Gotcha.  He's basically trying to keep other suitors interested.

On the flip side, if he was in negotiations with a particular school (KSU), acknowledging MU interest could be used as a negotiating tool.

It's pretty simple:

All candidates considered will be on their knees BEGGING to coach Men's basketball at Kansas State University.

They will consider it an honor to work for $500k/year.

So, are you saying he might have an ego?

No, just a flaw in logic.

Someone with an ego would have flown straight from Dallas to Milwaukee and/or Cincinnati at about 7:30 p.m. on March 9th to convince Rick Majerus or Bob Huggins that they are going to coach at Kansas State.  He'd be so scary confident that worry about someone finding out that we didn't get our "first choice" would be non-existent. He would have a short, public, all-out blitz to get one of the two.

I think we're talking about two different types of "ego"..what you refer to is "confidence"...what I refer to is "little big man syndrome".

What you refer to as "ego", I refer to as "sheer stupidity".

Stop pre-melting down.

Let it play out..a bit.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

extremely unique too.  almost uniquely unique.
