Yes, it's insane, but no more insane than the total meltdown and state of panic happening here - although the meltdown is at least productive if it scares people into writing checks. The rational person would look at what is happening (all the contract coverage) as a potential windfall for the university. Donors will open the checkbooks and season ticket holders will be more receptive to price increases when they are worried about losing Frank. Hell, 2010-2011 season ticket mailers should be going out NOW, with higher prices on them. There should be Ahearn Fund ads on the video board during timeouts, preferably showing some artwork of the proposed practice facility and a bunch of video of Frank yelling.
I'm not claiming Currie is a genius, but he is at least smart enough to realize that if he plays this right, he might be able to secure a long-term coach and a practice facility much easier than he would if this wasn't all over the press. But keep melting down, please....the panic fueld the fire.
