I don't get it. there is nothing lamer than crowning a champion of a 10+ team conference by overall standings. it's not as exciting, you get shared titles, you get teams at the top that have never played each other etc..

sorry guys. just that one of my pet peeves are dr. pepper ccg haters.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Especially the Big 10.  Its got to be really fun for all your conference games to be done before Thanksgiving weekend.  I guess it does leave them free to watch all the good Thanksgiving weekend football and the conference Championship games the next 2 weeks.

Not that I am against the dr. Pepper games. Seems to me most coaches are/were against the championship. It is another chance tn lose very late in the season. Thats bad for MNC games.

Yeah, Why would Ohio State want to play another game after it went through its powder puff conference schedule? The way it is now they get like 2 months off before the bowl game.

A team goes undefeated in the big xii. Another game won't help, can only hurt their chances.

so? it's exciting to see an undefeated team play on abc national tv where a loss will destroy their season.

and if they lose to a 6-2 type team, so what. they have no one to blame but themselves.

I agree with you. The big televen is irrevelant. They suck. I was pointing out the view of at least a few top coaches.

IMO, 4 reasons you don't want a conf. championship game

1.  UT  1996
2.  aTm 1998
3.  CU  2001
4.  KSU 2003

Quasi 5th reason:  OU 2007

My problem with championship games is that not all conferences have them. I say that either all conferences require them or just drop them altogether.

All conferences also don't have as many teams as the Big 12, SEC, etc.. and actually get to play everyone in their respective conference. (See MWC)

The teams that are usually in the BCS championship are ones that do have a conference title. (Except PAC 10.  USC has dominated enough in the past though)

bzzzzzzzz, wrong

All those teams, beat a team that otherwise would have played for a NC (OU '03 was lucky)

Ohio State, Michigan, and USC have too much to lose by playing a conf championship game against a team with nothing to lose that is otherwise a very good team

Now that there are 5 BCS games, and no Big10/Pac10 Rose Bowl, this argument doesn't hold as much water, but it's the old reason
