So, while watching 'Nova and Ole Miss I see that 'Nova got called for offensive basket interference just like KSU did in their game.  Why is this rule in place?  Because it denies the defense an opportunity to rebound a shot that may have missed?

Anybody else think it's a stupid rule?

Teams would never miss if it wasn't a rule.

Really?  That's it?  Maybe the defense should block out then?

Since the defense can't touch it, neither can the offense.  Wouldn't be fair if it's sitting on the rim and the offense could just slam it in and the defense couldn't do anything with it.

The over the back was bad.  The dunk was not.

Yes.  Looked legal on the replay.

I thought the ball was out of the cylinder.

IIRC he was called for over the back as well?  wouldn't the shot have been waved?

I don't know if it was made clear.  I thought so for a moment, then it just sounded like they called the goaltend.

I think they just called goaltending.  I thought it was the right call live, but it looked like a good play on the replay.

In international basketball...some goaltending is allowed after the ball either hits the rim or the backboard.  Not exactly positive on when you can touch the ball though.

Maybe it was a nice way to get the same effect w/o calling the foul?  Because it appeared to be bouncing out and up.
