KCK student arrested during field trip

The Associated Press

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A home invasion suspect is in juvenile custody after authorities stopped a school bus and arrested him while he was on a field trip.

The 17-year-old was headed to Kansas State University for a college visit Friday morning when school officials told the bus driver to pull over at a Lawrence exit.

Police in Lawrence then arrested the Schlagle High School student, and the field trip resumed.

The teen is one of four suspects in an attempted home invasion robbery that happened Thursday in Kansas City, Kan.

Shot were fired during the home invasion, and two other suspects were wounded.

Authorities are trying to determine who fired the shots - the victims of the home invasion or the suspects.

The 17-year-old was not immediately charged, but the other three suspects have been charged.

My guess is that I'll see him at my "school" here in a few months.

Not a recruit.  KSU gets tons of field trips by students during the year for a ton of reasons.  In the last 2 weeks the HS I teach at has sent at least 3 groups of students to KSU for various reasons.

The fact that he was arrested by Lawrence police does raise some flags...   :coplights:

Must have thought he was a prime candidate to get a roster spot on a ku hoops or football team.

Probably drove his ass right over to the AD's office so Lew could slip him some cash as down payment for rendering his services to the university in the future.
