Why the hell is it when I search on Google now and I click on a link it redirects me to another site?

I want to know why that is a problem. I usually  when it doesn't.

I had that crap for a couple of days.  Pretty sure it's malware of some sort.  I either ran a anti-malware program or a system restore.  Probably both, I can't remember.  That crap is annoying though, isn't it?

Got a warning from a geocaching site one time.  I contacted the admin and he checked things on his end and they were clear.  The warning kept coming up, so I just changed my bookmark to a different page on the board, which is on a different server.

Only dumb people get viruses TBH.  Whenever I go to my parents' house they are always like "Hey, our computer is broken again" and it has like a ton of viruses.

Download malwarebytes, (it's a free anti-malware product) it works pretty well.  You'll probably have like 30 instances on your PC, it's kinda unsettling to see all the different stuff that can be hanging out.  Worst comes to worst, you wasted like a 5 minutes downloading and scanning.

Follow all malware scans with HijackThis.  Let some techie take a look at the log.  There's almost always some stuff left on your machine after it has been "cleaned."

Also unplug your hard drive while the pc is running to make sure you get everything out of the system!

Malwarebyts wont even work on my computer its complete bullcrap! I had to use smithfraudfix to get rid of PC Antispyware about a week ago and it that PC AntiSpyware never pops up anymore.  But it still wont let me click on a proper link on google without sending me to another site.

You'll have to take it to a computer guy to fix.  The bad part is that he'll be able to see all of the grossest stuff you have been looking at and will probably make fun of you and tell your family if he doesn't call the cops.

You'll have to take it to a computer guy to fix.  The bad part is that he'll be able to see all of the grossest stuff you have been looking at and will probably make fun of you and tell your family if he doesn't call the cops.

plus with XP reformatting only takes an hour or so if you backup your files/important stuff regularly.  had windows 2000 on my old computer and it took forever to reformat.

That honestly doesn't make any sense.  Reformatting a drive is independent of the software on it.  But seriously, go Windows 7.  XP had a good run but it is time to switch.

obviously you're not a golfer...... didn't say anything about software  .  just talking about how non-time consuming reformatting is now unlike the old OS systems.

Reformatting hasn't been time consuming in a long long long time.

Reinstalling windows updates if your copy isn't slip streamed with the latest services packs?  Yes, that takes forever.  Also, reformatting with XP should take nowhere near an hour.
