There was absolutely nothing straight about the way Huggins played the NCAA.  While he was out of work, he recruited these guys to his own back pocket just waiting to land somewhere just in time for them to play their college ball.  Without recruiting restrictions placed on schools, Huggy was allowed to come and go as he pleased.  Call as much as he pleased.  I guess OJ Mayo wasn't impressed with Manhattan, Ks.  No matter what relationship Huggy cultivated with him over three or four years, it wasn't enough to lure him to the middle of nowhere.

I think you are correct.  If I remember correctly, it was Mayo trying to lure Beasley but Mom Beasy was having none of that.
