Not only did we win but there was a collective "change" in the mood of the stadium.  With 4:30 left on the clock I watched a Freshman QB march his team down the field with pinpoint accuracy and touch on every ball he threw.  His throw to Moreira was brilliant and I do not remember a QB in recent history that threw with that kind of power and accuracy.

The change in the mood came when once we had scored people looked at the clock and knew that if we got the ball back we had a chance to win the game.  The last time I can remember feeling that was with one Michael Bishop.  With Roberson I always felt we would find a way to piss the game away and more often than not we did.

Next came the kick off, our Special Teams had obviously practiced for this type of situation.  The OSU return team set up for the onside kick with one deep and either our coaches, players, or both knew that there was a nice little bubble between the returner and blockers.  Make no mistake that kick was just as important as Freeman's run, without the placement and the poor field position that followed I don't know that our offense gets the ball back and the opportunity to do what they did.

The rest is history but I will remember this day as the day that pride, faith, and belief was restored to this program and its fans.  We will without a doubt have bumps along the way but my friends... we are back.

    The very best.

Agreed. The only time Roberson did anything like Josh did today was the 02 Holiday Bowl.

Roberson rarely lead us to comebacks.

He was still a badass.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

It was an exciting game and it has been so storybook-scripted for Freeman and for other freshmen.

Name this team "Freeman and the Freshmen".

This team has all the earmarks of one addressing some disciplinary problems that have fested for a couple of years. I read in a post that the 2004 team had several prima donna's.

I really like the message the coaching staff is sending to the players: "Our way or the highway." Discipline is what forges a winner.

But there is more to the message the coaches message: "If you have what it takes, you're going to play NOW!!!"

Ron Prince and his coaching staff are going to groom a lot of players in the future NFL players!

I just hope they can recruit to Manhattan.

We barely beat a crappy OSU team. We had 170 yrds offense until about 5 minutes to go in the game.  I'm very glad we won but we are a hell of a long way from being back!!!!!

What Houston said. That was a great comeback and a game I'm glad I didn't miss, but we're far from being back. It was nice to see the potential of some youngsters though. This week should be much more fun than last week.

How true...but one of his best games early in his career, imo, was the game at OU where they came out in the second half running the belly-option play after play, and OU couldn't stop him even when they knew it was comng...came up just short, but that was a fuqin impressive performance from Ell...damn I miss him and the QB run game.

I agree that OSU isn't that great, but they aren't that bad either.  They've got some stud athletes.  I think after last week most of us had this and frankly nearly the rest of the games as losses.   To win, with two Freshman carrying the load ... that's nice, you can't deny that.

I think both freshman showed some potential and I agree I was one who thought this game was more likely going to be a loss than a win.  I still think we struggle the rest of the year.  Nothing about this game has me jumping upping and down saying "We're back, We're back"  I figured with a new coach and a team coming off back to back poor seasons that we would see lots of ups and downs.  My emotional state for the team this year has done just that.

Pre-season - 6 - 7 wins and a bowl  :hope:
Illinois State - Oh crap....we're back (in a stan parrish sort of way not a Snyder sort of way) 3 wins   :banghead:
Florida whatever - Ok so maybe it was just first game new coach issues 6 -7 wins and a bowl  :hope:
Marshall - Nice win maybe MJ isn't crazy and we will get 8 wins  :D
Louisville - Moral victory we'll go bowling  :D
Baylor - WTF!!!! WE LOST TO BAYLOR!  Visions of stan parrish haunt my sleep.  :banghead: :banghead:
OSU (through 3 qtrs) 170 yrds of offence at home, at least we have a running back and Huggins  :banghead:
OSU (4th qtr) - Holy Crap We won!!!! Bowl game here we come! :ksu:  :ksu:  :ksu:
NU -

Don't tell our players that OSU is a bad team.

Seriously, a win like this will do wonders for our teams confidence.

Oh...and Freeman + Patton for 3 more years...

That game at OU, The Fiesta Bowl, '02 Colorado and Texas '03 were all hallmarks of Roberson comebacks.  Crappy start with a frenzied comeback just falling short.

There are lots of reasons that run oriented teams aren't good at come-from-behind wins, and especially if their quarterback is a better runner than passer.  I agree that having a team unable to come from behind and win is less exciting than having a team that can.
