Pretty f'ing hilarious...last week it was a done deal...then comes that bombshell article...and now they are "working out some details"...like what?  Don't require every girl to carry a bible between their legs?  I guess, to be fair, it is similar to Huggins, in that there was an agreement long before it was finalized and actually signed....but still just seems odd after the article was written.

K-State, Patterson are still working on contract details
No comment from A.D. or school president regarding basketball coach’s situation.

The Kansas City Star
Friday, Kansas State announced that women’s basketball coach Deb Patterson had agreed in principle to a five-year contract extension. Monday, Patterson was asked when that deal will be official.

“Both parties are still involved in the process of working out the details of the contract,” Patterson informed The Star. “The media will be informed via a press release once details have been finalized and a contract has been signed.”

Neither K-State athletic director Tim Weiser nor university president Jon Wefald was available for comment Monday on Patterson’s contract situation, nor to offer a response to a story Sunday in The Star in which former players and staff members raised concerns about Patterson’s conduct in recent seasons.

Weiser’s administrative assistant returned a call Monday morning saying Weiser would be out of the office that afternoon and could not speak to The Star by phone or in person that day. She also said Weiser had no comment on the article.

An assistant in Wefald’s office explained Wefald was on his way out for the afternoon and said that he advised The Star, “Keep trying to reach Tim Weiser, and hopefully he can answer your questions. He is coach Patterson’s supervisor.”

Last week, Patterson acknowledged that K-State had self-reported an NCAA violation after she had bought a laptop computer in 2005 as a gift for a departing player. K-State assistant athletic director David Flores, who is in charge of compliance, told The Star it was his policy not to comment on such a report nor say when it was filed.

Patterson is set to begin her 11th season at K-State, where she has a 199-113 record.

She stated in her ESPN article that Weiser came out with the press release 6 hours after she talked to him last Friday and that he knew that the story was going to be big and negative and would run on Sunday.  He obviously doesn't have the extension done as he stated with "we have agreed in principle", but he wanted to show public support for his coach in light of the negative press that he knew was coming.

Unless this infraction that the KC Star mentioned is new news and a serious violation, she will be at KSU for the foreseeable future.
