The Aggies are 17-6 (3-5) with a win over Baylor and losses to Tulsa, at Oklahoma State, to Oklahoma twice, at Kansas and at Texas. The Aggies return 3 starters off of a team that went 25-11 (8-8) in 2007-08.
The Aggies are lead by G-F Josh Carter, G Donald Sloan, F Bryan Davis and F-C Chinemelu Elonu. Carter averages 13 points/game (leads the team), 4 rebounds/game and 2 assists/game. He lead the nation in 3 point shooting as a sophomore and absolutely does not turn the ball over. Sloan averages 11 points/game, 4 rebounds/game and 3 assists/game (leads the team). Sloan struggled at first while taking over the PG duties from Acie Law but really got it going, as evident by his performance in the Big XII tournament against Iowa State where he nearly had a triple double. Davis averages 11 points/game, 6 rebounds/game and 1 assist/game. Davis is the team's defensive stopper but came on offensively towards the end of the season when he went for 30 points and 14 rebounds in a game vs. Baylor. Elonu averages 10 points/game and 8 rebounds/game (leads the team). Elonu has come so far in his career that HCMT said before the season that he expected him to make the biggest improvement this season and Elonu has not been disappointing.
