Coaching.  Not recruiting. I never see them get any 4 star guys. They are never on Rivals top recruiting lists. They don't get those superfast athletes.   They just coach.  They recruit fundamentaly schooled players.  Block,Tackle,etc..

    The very best.
rare exceptions to teams that aren't good year in year out.

and BYU gets talent. you get your pick of an entire religion.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Interesting comparison.  Solid   DEF. coordinator taking over for the genius offensive coach.

mormons breed like ants.  when you have 10 kids 1 has to be a good athlete.

The BYU roster is made up of guys ranging from 21 - 26 years old (missions). They get every top rated Samoan OL prospect (the islands are highly Morman), and they get solid QB's. They had coach Edwards forever, had a few down years, then got an Urban Meyer desciple who left Utah when meyer went to UF. I think a better question is "How does Utah do It?"

Of course Mormons are the most athletic white kids in America.  Have you ever seen a high school wrestling team?  70% of them are Mormons, and not the upper weight classes.  Double athletic pwnage.

This was exactly what I was basing my point off of.

You just explained how Utah does it.  You do know who founded The University of Deseret, don't you?  Plus, Utah has some great juco programs, and Utah signs some good juco guys from Cali as well.  (A good percentage of which are Polynesian.)  Of course, the great coaches Utah has had doesn't hurt.

Easy: BYU gets the devout Mormons, Utah gets the jack Mormons.

This is the main part of Boise's schedule every year: Idaho, Idaho St., La Tech, Hawaii, San Jose St., New Mexico St., Utah State, Nevada, Fresno St.
Then, add in a couple more cupcakes like: Bowling Green and So. Mississippi and one Pac 10 team [last year it was four win UW, this year it is soon to be four loss Oregon]
Voila, 10 wins or more year in and year out.
No doubt they are well coached, and no they are not heavy on 4* guys, but they also recruit  better than their main competitors, so you can't say it is all coaching.

tcu is the same story.....good coaching and better talent than the weak sisters who comprise the main part of your schedule.  That's why Patterson wouldn't be a slam dunk at KSU just as Hawkins wasn't a slam dunk at CU.

The most athletic white people in America.

very true.

it isn't just byu.  boise state gets a ton of mormons too.   mormons dominate athletic scholarships throughout the intermountain west.
