They played USC on the road. They will get no smack talk from me.
So lets review the logic of what Fatty is really saying.
Hey, we're playing USC on the road ... lets go out there and make sure we don't get beat that bad, even though supposedly we've recruited all world talent, we're "restoring the order" and our coach is a genius.
That wasn't USC vs Colorado State, that was USC vs NEBRASKA. ; it was USC vs NEBRASKA with an NU Coach playing to "keep it close".
I thought it was funny during the exchange between Herbstriet and Mushburger where Herbstriet said that Callahan just want to get out of that game with few injuries and not be embarrassed. Mush pounced on that and replied about how far the program has fallen. Herbstriet replied that Callahan was still the right man for the job, that he needed five years to make it a contender again. Then he said, the goal is just to win the Big 12 north and that Callahan could do it.
Now, there were a few huskers I know that were convinced Callahan would win this game, but that it would be close. Some of those same sker's were saying that KSU would not beat Marshall and that it was a guarantee that Callahan would come in and beat us in Manhattan.
After watching our game and the game last night.. NU isn't even close to where these people say they are, and the North is wide open. Callahan didn't go in there to win that game. At what point does a coach decide that his team is ready to play to win? That's just ridiculous. NU fans deserve all the crap they can get when they talk about returning to the top and becoming a dynasty again when you have a coach that just coaches to get through the game without injuries and only is interested in playing to win against a team they know they can beat. And I'm not afraid of NU fans yelling at me about losing to Lousiville, but I sure as hell know our coach is not going into that game with a gameplan that says "Hey, were' just going to get through this, we know we can't win."
