Pretty sh*tty post.  It doesn't necessarily take five years to rebuild.  And just how does he know that Paterno's turnaround didn't only take one or two years.  Is it five years just because he says so?

You can also &@#% it all pretty quickly.  Look at Rutgers.  Built that &@#%er over night and then it went to crap.

    I'm with Coco.
This one is quality:

I'm convinced Prince will be fine if he can find some......

solid asst. coaches like LSnyder had when he came in: B. Stoops, M. Stoops, J. Levitt, etc. RP is good as any other head coach; he just needs the input and help from quality def and off coordinators.

Only wish Wefald and Krause would lay out the cash for top-notch asst. football coaches. Then we will be back on track.

Agreed.  Excellent post.

I'm starting to agree with zacker, though.  I've gone back and forth, but I really do believe now he's back regardless next season, no matter what happens at this point.

IMO, the athletic department and president's office are just banking on weathering the storm of sorts.  Because, at some point the vocal show of dissaproval by the donors and fans base just turns to apathy and acceptance.  Basketball will start and people won't give a sh*t.  So, we go lose to ku and MU, probably Nebraska, that's a foregone conclusion.  What else is left to be said?  How many more e-mails, phone calls and donation rejections are going to happen that already haven't?

Wefald and Krause are just going to ride it out.  They've commited to "their" guy.  I don't really think in their minds going to a bowl game or any discernable progress in wins and losses is REALLY a mitigating factor that will affect keeping Prince around or not.  Crazy as that sounds.  I saw enough idiocy out of Wefald when he rationalized keeping Wooldridge for another year to believe it.

You can also frack it all pretty quickly.  Look at Rutgers.  Built that fracker over night and then it went to crap.

I honestly think if Prince comes back next year, he'll go to a bowl game just due to having seniors all over the place.  But after 2009...

 :flush:

So, the problem with retaining Ron after this year is that he'll go something like 7-5 in 2009, but they'll go 3-9 in 2010.  So, a vote for Ron this year means he's here another two years IMO.  That's what's scary to me.  At this point, two more years of his recruiting, and it's going to take years to recover.

And the benefit to rolling in a new staff at the end of this season is that they'll probably make a bowl game in '09 and will be able to use that as a base from which to recruit.  Ron could make a bowl game in '09 and he still wouldn't be able to recruit Bill Clinton to a whorehouse.

qft. just when you get excited about an alamo bowl possibility, you remember this.

remember the 07 class? we finished AHEAD of ku, beat Texas in a thrilling game everyone saw nationally, Mangino was pretty much a dead man and that bastard still out recruited prince.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Yep, that's what guarantees a Ron Prince flameout.  And by "recruit" I'm including assistant coaches, not just players.

You're assuming Freeman is back next season, which is highly unlikely IMO.  I'm seeing NFL draft projections now that him going as the #2 QB in the class.

Frack his inability to recruit.  That is what it is.

If I'm scared of anything, I'm scared crapless of a scenario where we don't go to a bowl in 08' and and they retain Prince for next season with Carson Coffman as the QB.

If we go 0 for ku, MU, Nubb, how can we bring him back as a coach? If you can't beat your divison rivals even once in 3 years than you shouldn't be coaching period.

One guy posted that he has heard Prince will get at least one more year regardless of what happens the rest of the season.   (I don't believe the poster was a Prince supporter.)

Other than that vehement arguments that Stoops did not call off the dogs and our defense was stellar in the second half.

Does anyone have any information that they are CONSIDERING making a change at the end of the year?  I can't take another year of RP.  Can you imagine with the way recruitng is going this year how bad its going to get?  Is RP even recruiting?

MJROD needs to give us some news.  He said last week there were some things going on that he couldn't talk about, but would at a later date.   Give me some hope MJ!

Yeah.  I think it could all go down like this:

Quote
Krause: [as Freemaw walks in on the town meeting that determines Coach Prince's fate] What can I do for you, Josh?
Freemaw: I got something to say.
Krause: All right, say what you've gotta say.
Freemaw: [to crowd] I don't know if it'll make a difference, but I figured it's time for me to stay at K-State and play another year of ball.
ksufans.com poster: [as crowd is cheering, points to Prince] I told you, once we got rid of him!
Freemaw: But, there's just one thing... I play, Coach stays. He goes, I go.
ksufans.com poster: [crowd starts murmuring] Uhhh, the coach is dismissed by a vote of 48 to 25...
gopowercat.com poster: I think we should vote again!
Krause: All those in favor of the coach staying, say 'Aye' [majority of crowd says 'Aye']
Krause: , all opposed... [a handful say 'nay', tears up ksufans.com's tally sheet]
Krause: ... Coach stays!

you need to get that script into cattmatt's hands pronto.

Unfortunately, I don't hear Jerry Goldsmith's rousing score.  I don't see the montage of our boys making outstanding plays and suddenly winning game after game.  I don't see images of former RP critics in the stands, suddenly cheering like die-hard faithful.

Sadly, I do not see the cutaway from the montage, and RP shoving Tibesar's face in a sink full of water.

RP:  Now listen ... we have four games left down the street.  With Josh, all the pistons are firing.  Now you come along for the ride or check yourself into a hospital so you can clean yourself up.
TIBS:   But you have got to promise me you are not gonna get thrown out of anymore games.
RP:   Scout's honor.
TIBS: You mean Scout.com's honor?

Tragically, I do not see RP asking a ref to throw him out of a game to Tibs can coach us to a victory.  I do not see a little guy like Keithen Valentine being called in to kick a game-winning field goal in the ISU game to secure our place in the Big XII Championship.

And sadly, I do not see us in the Big XII game against Texas:

BANKS:  Man, these guys are tough!
FREEMAN:   This is embarrassing!
ALESSANA:  I can't stop that guy!
RP:  Well, maybe they were right about us!  Maybe we don't belong here!
(boys look at each other solemnly)
FREEMAN:  Come on, let's go!

... and then we all woke up.

You shouldn't worry about that scenario panning out.  Just because a kid has a "Sr." after his name doesn't mean the sundial will time his 40 yard dash any quicker.

Today I heard from an unmamed board, this, which was in a discussion about the ku game and the importance of a win.

It definatly is for his future as the KSU head coach....I know that for a fact
