The Star has learned that Kansas will self-impose a three-game suspension on defensive end John McCoy for his role in the 2003 academic scandal that helped land the Jayhawks on probation.


The timing of McCoy’s suspension actually works out well for the 6-foot-3, 250-pound senior, who a source said underwent minor knee surgery last week. Although he’s expected to recover, McCoy would’ve been far from 100 percent for Saturday’s season opener.

Unbelieveable. That's some punishment.
