actually I don't know what to make of this team.

I'll say this...Montana State started 15 seniors and had a QB transfer from Oregon directing things.  A lot of kids back from a team that put up 400 yards in College Station and had that game w/ in 17-7 late in the 3rd.  Some kids from the win over Colorado in Boulder a few years back....and same program that lost just 15-10 in Stillwater.

I love it how fans go nuts if a D1AA team is not completely dominated in all facets of the game.  McNeese State just gashed our '03 defense and in stretches seemingly did what they wanted offensively.  We couldn't move the ball against UMass D the first half...or at least really struggled doing it.

I don't know what to make of the team so far but they have been awfully overwhelming in putting getting the opponent blown out early and it's been since '02 where we put back to back games like that regardless of the opponents.

qft.

we're executing regardless of opponent, particularly on offense. Limiting the dumb mistakes and penalities that plagued us the last two seasons is the biggets change......but I'm still cautiously optimistic that we're THAT GOOD.

North Texas got smoked by Tulsa last week. Tulsa....so I can't put too much stock in them. Their offense was expected to score more than they did so that was a good sign that we didn't allow a SINGLE long drive vs. them.

Actually, what is the longest drive we've allowed so far? 45 yards? 55? with penalites....?

I expect the same mistake free and clean football vs. Louisville and if we can do that we'll be just fine. Just braced for the worst.

we looked better vs North texas and MSU than we did vs SJSU and Mizzou state in 2007.

jmo.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Ummm...Tulsa has a damn good offense.  After Kragthorpe left they hired that Rice coach who throws it all over the place.

last year Tulsa was #1 nationally in total offense per game, #3 nationally in passing offense, and #6 nationally in scoring offense.  They were going to rack up the points against North Texas.

Sometimes it helps to do a little research before posting.

SJSU: 34-183
KSU: 35-253

KSU led 17-7 at half

MSU: 39-138
KSU: 42-306

KSU led 27-7 at half

NT: 27-65
KSU: 34-242

KSU led 28-0 at half

Also, UNT put up 450 yards vs tulsa. tulsa does have a sh1t defense though.

I don't care if Montana State's an FCS team.  69-10 is an absolute pasting.  Everyone liked Colorado as the sleeper in the North before the season (and they still could be), but I think it might turn out to be K-State.

It's a possibility but lack of a D-1 RB and questions about depth on defense leave me weary.  That and the collapse by D the last few years.

Need to get Stewart and Crews back and stay healthy all season.

But regardless of opponent this is as dominant as we have looked since the start of '02 season.  I'm not saying this team will be nearly as good as that team...that team would run away w/ the North this season because of the defense we had.

So, yeah, Tulsa is better than their "name" in teh world of college football but North Texas still sucks. I really expected Montana State to put up more of a fight than North Texas based on their past performances vs. Ostate, Colorado in '06, A&M. They had built a quick reputation for giving bigger schools a tough time and we slapped them around with ease. Should have been a shutout, much like North Texas, if it weren't for foolish plays giving them awesome scoring position.

we SHOULD beat Louisville...but can our Coach win on the road vs. someone not named Texas...or another team as absolutely pathetic as the '06 Buffaloes.? I'm waiting.

weird how 03' team started out kind of pedestrian. went nuts the last 6 games of the year.

'02 team would struggle a bit. Not exactly defensively either, but 02 had trouble putting points on the board vs certain teams because of a sh1t passing game.

Offense got into rythm.  The game that sticks out to me the most was Mizzou @ home.  Ell was sick so all we were going to do was hand it to Sproles all night long.  We knew it and Pinkel knew it and they could do nothing to stop it.

Texas game.  :yuck:

we had that UT '02 game WON, 'til Ell put the ball on the carpet - then VY did his thing. Ballgame.

That was '03.  In '02 it was a blocked FG and I got to see Chrissy run by the crowd throwing up the hook'em.  Ell did lose a fumble in that game, but we go the ball right back after Newman intercepted Chrissy.

Incred tough to judge this team imo.  They beat the teams on their schedule like they were supposed to.  Even during DOD some of those games didnt come as easily as these two games did (see '97 ohio 23-20...even tho they went like 11-1 that year, '03 umass, etc).

I think the fans/media are doing everything they can to find holes in this team bc they dont want to get all pumped up like last yr after auburn and UT (i fell victim) then have their world come crashing down the last month of the year.

Beat 'ville and a quality road win, not a HUGE win by any means, def should win this game.  Beat Tech and keep OU within reach and i'll be emawing.

last yr after auburn

I would rather have my team learn how to win against inferior opponents that learn how to feel good about losing close to a good opponent.

'02 averaged 44.8 points a game.  Scored less than 30 twice. Once against our rivals and once against USC.

With a couple of breaks that was an NC capable team.

What it shows is consistency by the offense and the defense.

Special teams blocking punts is great.
