It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Pope is there btw

Clipped from Lex H-L story today:

< Rex Morgan returns: uk fans longer in the tooth may recall Rex Morgan. He played for the Jacksonville team that eliminated Dan Issel-led Kentucky in the 1970 NCAA Tournament. A controversial fifth foul on Issel (a charge at mid-court when Vaughn Wedeking sneaked up behind the unsuspecting Issel) turned the game in Jacksonville's favor.

Morgan saw justice in the call. "They forget someone stepped in front of Artis (Gilmore) earlier in the game," he said of uk fan complaints.

Fast forward 36 years and Morgan is a high school basketball coach in Jacksonville. One of his players, A.J. Stewart, is on uk's wish list. uk is scheduled to make an in-home visit on Sept. 19.

Stewart, an athletic 6-8 forward with long arms, is also considering Kansas State, Illinois and Clemson. Morgan noted the player has a "lot of upside."

To tap into that potential, Stewart must improve his jump shot and "he has to take the game -- not more seriously -- but he has to learn you can't take some plays off," Morgan said.

Morgan's team also has another, more highly regarded prospect in forward Herb Pope. Louisville, Pittsburgh, UConn and Kansas State are on his list.

Pope's potential caused Morgan to make a telling slip of the tongue. "No question he has the tools to be on the next level," the coach said before adding with a chuckle, "I mean the next next level." >
