So your point is that different K-State fans have different opinions on how we're going to do this year.
Some say we're going to win the national championship, others say we're good at .500.
That's profound.

Please don't tell anyone you attend my alma mater.

Very few are still predicting 8 or 9 win seasons. The majority switched to 'hopefully 6 wins and maybe a bowl'.

The average win predictions swung wildly the other way after Prince ran some people off and his recruiting hasn't been good.

And I attend KSU proudly. Its a fine college. It just sucks athletically. :shy:

Out.
I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

I could give Smith a phone call !  he's in OP.

Just kidding. :D

I wonder why no one has leaked any info since he is local.  He must not be telling his friends.

No we don't.  Early signs aren't especially encouraging, but we need to wait and see what Prince can do on the field and what this recruiting class looks like once it's finalized.  If Prince can go .500 this year, I'll be encouraged, and I think we'll get some better recruits.

A month ago I was hearing 8 and 9 win seasons.

Now its, "if we can only go .500".

Scary Smart, ladies and gentlemen.

(BTW, fatty, I note with some depression that my posting style is becoming more and more like yours.)

I'm of the belief that Prince was the result of little interest from other coaches. Doesn't mean he won't be successfull, just a strange pick.

Yep, although I got word from an "insider" the day of the Mizzou game that I shouldn't be surprised if it was someone I never heard of.  Lo and behold...

I know that my recent posts have been on the negative side.  I'm not anti-Prince.  I don't know enough about him yet and he hasn't coached a game.  I'm just pointing out that it's entirely possible that we could really tank this year, and that other folks' expectations don't seem to be entirely, um, realistic.  I think it's more likely that we win 2 games this year than that we win 10...more likely that we win 3 than that we win 9...more likely that we win 4 than we win 8, etc.  If we were returning players who had gone just .500 last year, I'd have more room for optimism.

I'm not talking about you in particular.

The predictions I've seen as a whole have changed from 8/9 to 6 wins.

How many times do I have to say this?

I don't see how anyone can say  7 wins.  We will go .500 in OOC and from there on out I don't see another 3 wins.  I see a win vs ISU and maybe, just maybe Baylor but even the baylor game is 50/50 and when your 50/50 against baylor then your season aint lokking to good.  The other team we cdould beat is CU, they are in transition as well but they seem to be going about it in a different way.

so, 2 ooc wins
isu win and Baylor and Cu a toss up.  a 3-5 win season.

take it to the bank

Note, I'm not saying they will...I'm saying that if they are worth a darn, this team should win 7...or, the team this staff was handed should have won at least 7...maybe that's how I should put it.

Mr. White, do you need some lip gloss?  Them bitches gotta be gettin' chapped.

this staff was handed a team that had losing seasons back to back, and thats the bottom line.  I don't expect this team to improve at all on thiose last 2 years worth of records with all  thats going on, including the new schemes and what not.

prince didn't inherit anything but a really bad north team

Wrong.
Prince inherited a group of underachieving, unmotivated, and undisciplined players; to call them a "really bad north team" is inaccurate.
As evidence to my point, refer to our sloppy special teams play, our increase in penalties/yards the past 3 seasons, and our myriad of close losses.

And turnovers.

Plus, I still think that Darren Sproles "syndrome" set in .. in 2004 ... everybody stand around and watch Darren, and guess what, Snyder called another play for Darren.

Well Nebraska Fan...well named.  Wildcat Nation was right about the returning talent.  The last 2 yrs. we have stupidly blown games we should have won.  We'll see if that was underacheiving players or an underacheiving staff.  I see 7 wins as quite possible...
1. Ill State
2. Fl Atl
3. Marshall-  home game we should win.
4. Ok St
5. either ISU or NU (both in Manhattan....we should've beat NU last year up there)  both are above average but neither will be extremely good
6. ku (by then their thoughts of being really good should've been squelched by the reality that they lost all their playmakers off a very good D, have a very inexperienced QB, and lost the only QB that got them any points at all last year)
7. 1 out of Baylor, MU, and CU on the road.  None are juggernauts...all are likely average to slightly above average

Am I optimistic...maybe, but not overly.  To say 4 wins is to take a very pessimistic, don't look at the weaknesses of others, route.

The first game of the season will tell us a lot about KSU football for the rest of the season.  Illinios State is not a team that you can just ignore.   They have great talent and can play with anyone.  The issue for Prince is to make sure that we don't go into the game cocky, we go in confident and play well.   If we smash the crap out of them, then the next game will be more telling.

3-1 in the OOC is very realistic, 4-0 is within the realm of possibility since Louisville has never been a great road team against decent talent.

4-4 in the Big 12 is very reasonable.  Home games against ISU, NU, UT and OSU, KSU should win again ISU, NU and OSU.  The road games, ku, MU, CU and BU, we could go 1-3 with ku or BU being our winning game.  MU and CU kinda scare me because CU has a great deal of talent returning, and so does MU.

If we can win 6 of our home games, and 1 of our away games, we're 7-5 and based on past histories of new coaches coming in and winning, that wouldn't be too bad.    A least we're bowling.  However,  I believe we can win 7 of our home games, and maybe take 2 on the road.   First things first, though, we have to establish dominance on our home turf.  Snyder recognized that when he coached.  So does Prince.

so, we did go to bowl games the past 2 years in the weakest division in the conferance?  I must have missed that.  you can make up all the bs excuses you want but your are as good as your record says you are.
