The Cyclones are 12-7 (2-2) with wins at Purdue (their only non conference win over a team with a winning record), Missouri and Oklahoma State and losses to Minnesota, Northern Iowa and at Drake, Alabama, Baylor and Kansas. The Cyclones return 3 starters off of a team that went 15-16 (6-10) last season.

The Cyclones are lead in scoring by F's Wesley Johnson, Craig Brackins and Rahshon Clark and C Jiri Hubalek. Johnson averages 14 points/game (leads the team), 4 rebounds/game and 2 assists/game. Brackins averages 13 points/game, 5 rebounds/game and 2 assists/game. Clark averages 10 points/game, 6 rebounds/game and 1 assist/game. Hubalek averages 12 points/game, 7 rebounds/game (leads the team) and 1 assist/game. G's Diante Garrett and Bryan Petersen co lead the team in assists with 3 assists/game.

Iowa State is in the second year of what many think is a three year rebuilding project at Iowa State. Head Coach Greg McDermott (who I thought we'd hire before last season) has improved his teams dramatically from year one to year three so expect NEXT SEASON to be the breakout season at Iowa State. As far as this season is concerned.....The team really misses PG Mike Taylor. The Cyclones have an assist:turnover ratio of 1:1 (which isn't very good) so once they figure out who their PG is going to be this program should get rolling. The key to this game.....DO NOT get caught looking ahead to Wednesday.

Lot's of 1-3-1 trap.  Hit the offensive boards.  Be ready for junk defenses/hit outside shots.  ISU doesn't mind high pace as much, so not as big of advantage as against CU.
