    The "other" KSU
Do any of you remember the stories abound that the reason we did poorly in the Big 12 Ch Game (1998) was because our Defensive staff was all but relocated to Norman?

Curiously last year we did poorly on Defense when Raheem was basically mentally back in Tampa?

Just a conspiracy theory that could be thought about.  :frown:

I said it when we hired him and I'll say it again: go back and look at what happened to every group of defensive players Tibesar has coached.  He's absolutely lights out, an amazing talent.  We'll be very fortunate if Ron can keep him here a couple more years before he gets his own gig somewhere.

Good point - but correlation? Do you see anything to the mindset of Raheem last yr vs ku and the Big 12 Ch '98?

I understand your perspective but I think it's apples and oranges.  Do you really think Raheem came to KSU from Tampa as anything other than a short-timer?  I'm sure Ron was fully aware that the likely lifespan of Raheem's tenure at KSU would be <= 3-ish years before hiring him.  Raheem may have left a year or two earlier than originally expected but the fact that he didn't stay long was probably a surprise to no one.

Losing half of one's defensive staff to another conference team just prior to a big game ... and having said staff recruiting for that other conference team from one's own offices ... is one thing.  An obvious short-timer heading back to a pro staff for a big promotion doesn't exactly compare IMHO.

Let's not give ourselves any excuses for that ugly performance.  We sucked and ku was the better team that day.

I like our chances turning that around this saturday.
