Head Coach Dick Tomey's Opening Remarks:

“Just reflecting back on the Arizona State game, we were soundly beaten by a better team and a better coached team. So, we’re looking forward to getting better against Kansas State. We have to (get better), because Kansas State, in my mind, is a better team than Arizona State.

I have tremendous respect for the way they played. They played with such passion and had a great chance to win. It’s a tragedy for their program that they didn’t win. I think Ron Prince is on the right track.

When Bill Snyder was there, he did the best job of coaching in the history of college football leading Kansas State from a team that had no successful history in football to one of the top teams in the Big 12. All the coaches who worked with Coach Snyder, there was a legacy of success. It’s just amazing to those who follow Big 12 football.

Our task this week is to get better. We have a lot of work to do. There were some bright spots in the game. We scrimmaged Sunday. There were some bright spots there, but we have a lot of people who have to grow immensely and give a much better account of us.

My biggest thing is we have to compete better. We didn’t play as hard as I would have liked. The last week, I didn’t think our upperclassmen reflected their experience in the way they played. Our task is take a good look at the tape, which we’ve done, and take major strides to be a better football team. If we can do that and give ourselves a chance to win by creating some mistakes and giving them some problems, but we’ll have to make major improvements to do that.

We’re excited about the chance to go (to Kansas State). I’m really grateful to find out about us and play these teams. Had we played somebody whom we could do what we did and win, it would have been a very unrealistic feeling for us. We’re clear now about whom we are and we have to continue to get better.

I guess I'm not too surprised by the comments given they come from a coach that rolled up 3 points last weekend.  I read somewhere, too, that the SJSU kicker now has a streak of 4 consecutive made field goals.

The whole KSU is a better team than Arizona State thing is nothing more than a coach trying to stress the importance of preparation to his team, but the "tragedy" comment isn't directed to anyone in his locker room.  To consider our loss to AU as a tragedy, to this season or to the program, is scary stupid.

Nice props to Coach Snyder or another jab at Prince?  Talking about how the Snyder coaches have a legacy of success....purposely calling Prince out?  "I knew Bill Snyder, I worked with Bill Snyder...and you, Mr. Prince, are no Bill Snyder?"

I hope that Sunday practice has the more prepared for the ass-whipping coming their way this weekend.

I expect them to try and beat our brains out like Arizona State did.

I guess it might be in their head as well.
