Yeah, pretty screwed up.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Seriously, Kobe scored 81 points......in a single game.....and the Lakers made the playoffs with essentially Kobe and..........Lamar Odom?  luke Walton?  Whoe else is even really worth mentioning?

Odom > Shawn Marion

Amare played like half of a quarter all year.

Can you even name another Suns player?

Shawn Marion avgs. 21 points a game.

Steve is a great point guard but that team without him is still possibly making the playoffs.  The Lakers without Kobe are in the lottery.

If you want to make a real argument, use Lebron.

I could live w/ Lebron getting the nod over Nash.

Not Kobe.

I'd have to go with Lebron. The cavaliers would be the worst team in the league without him.  My second choice would be Kobe. I want to hate the guy but, 81 points in one game... thats just &@#%ing crazy.  But you can't base his whole season around that one game.  He was a consistent scorer but he still needs to do a better job being a team player and making others better.  That is something that Lebron is already doing pretty well at. Kobe is getting his team involved better than in the past, but he still needs to work on it.  Neither players really have that great of a supporting cast, especially Lebron. Anyways, I say Lebron is most deserving of MVP.

"get people involved"???  WHO!  Feed Luke Walton?  Mush?  Lamar does all he can, but he will never be more than a 15/10 guy.  Kobe is the only person on that team who can score.

Your right, but if everybody wants to compare Kobe to MJ, then he should find a way.  Jordan didn't have crap on his team but scottie Pippen.  And when scottie left the bulls, did you see how bad he sucked without mj! After jordan left and the rest of the other players parted ways, you never heard of them again because they sucked ass.  I understand what you are talking about, but if Kobe wants to be one of the greatest players like everybody compares him to be, he should make those other players better.  Nobody would know who Judd Buchler, luke longley, Steve Kerr or the other pieces of crap on the bulls team if it wasn't for mj.  Any great player finds a way to make the other players on his team better is what I'm trying to say.  You are right though. other than Odom, kobe's team did does suck and that makes it harder.

Your right, but if everybody wants to compare Kobe to MJ, then he should find a way.  Jordan didn't have S**T on his team but scottie Pippen.  And when scottie left the bulls, did you see how bad he sucked without mj! So basically what you're saying is Jordan didn't have anyone on his team EXCEPT FOR a top 50 player of all time?  Besides a Hallf of Famer?  Besides a 7 time All-Star?  Just stop talking.  You fail to mention that while Jordan was in Chicago they always had these three things to back up Jordan:

1) Pippen
2) a Rebounder/Enforcer (Charles Oakley early on, then Horace Grant, then the greatest rebounder of all time Dennis Rodman)
3) a proven spot-up shooter (Paxson played a pretty big role in winning them a championship in case you forgot)

Pippen may have been voted in the top 50 of all time, but that is a joke.  He is the ultimate complimentary player, but not even close to a star.  He proved what he is capable of w/o Jordan or rather what he is not capable of.   W/o Jordan, Pippen would have been just another run of the mill role player.

You mean what he was capable of the last 4 seasons of his 17 year career?

You people are delusional.  He is no. 4 all-time in steals.  He was a 7 time defensive first teamer.  7 time All-Star.  Just stop.

Back to the original argument.  The Suns are a MUCH better team than the Lakers with/without Amare entering the discussion.  Shawn Marion is a legit All-Star and gave 22 ppg, 11 rebounds, 2 stls and 1.6 bpg.  What did Luke Walton give?  kwame?  lamar?  Do you really want to go there?  Marion is a beast.

I'm going to defer to Jeffrey Martin on this one.

You obviously don't remember the 2 years Jordan took off during the prime of Pippen's career.  As I said, he is the ultimate complimentary player, but not a star and not one of the 50 all-time best by a long shot.

When I think of Scottie Pippen, the first thing that comes to mind is "refused to play the final 1.8 seconds of a playoff game."  He's not a top-50 player.  The NBa needs to take that poll in another 15 years and see how it turns out.  It was ridiculous to allow any current players to be considered.   There was no perspective.

Kat Kid, I probably am giving Scottie Pippen a little less credit than he deserves, I just don't think he would have been near the player he was without jordan.  And I don't think we would have ever heard of Paxson or anybody else on the bulls team without jordan, when he left, they didn't do crap.   But back to the whole point of the thread.  I never said Kobe was a bad player, he is a badass baskteball player and I would have him second in the MVP.
