This week, ESPN is ranking the 119 D-1 schools over the past decade on record, traditions, recruiting, facilities, coaches, attendance and support. They are starting at the bottom and working their way up to #1. Any thoughts on where we will rank? Who the top 5 will be??

You know it's tough to sustain excitement here when the team goes 9-4 and still ranks 99th nationally in attendance, as the Spartans did in 2006. Opening with four straight road games, and playing seven overall, might undercut last year's momentum.

Can anyone tell me what Snyder's records was in his first five years?

The Jayhawks have pulled off some impressive upsets during Mark Mangino's five-year tenure. They also have been bowl eligible three times in the last four years. However, the team's overall record under Mangino is 25-35, which is only a slight improvement over the previous five seasons (22-34).

Where exactly were these impressive upsets? 

Mangino has never beat a team that didn't end the season with atleast 4 losses.

Surprising? Yes.  Upsetting?  No.   Not a single one of those teams was good.  NU was the closest.

You're right about the moral victory.  Texas should end up winning at least the Big 12 this year.  their only question mark is the Oline.

#56 (tied) - OSU:  The Cowboys are barely above .500 in the past decade (60-58). They've gone from decent to mediocre to pretty good and back to decent. OSU seems to be on the rise again, but it can't be easy knowing Bob Stoops and archrival Oklahoma have outshone the Cowboys in this 10-year stretch.

#62 - Missouri:  The Tigers are 59-59 in the past 10 years. And it has taken awhile, but it seems as if coach Gary Pinkel finally has some traction in Columbia. Still, it'd be nice if Mizzou beat someone very good. Aside from a 2003 upset of Nebraska, MU basically has lived off beating mediocre opponents and no one else.

#66 - Iowa State:  Under Dan McCarney, the Cyclones crept toward respectability after years of ineptitude. Still, Iowa State's sub-44 percent winning percentage the past 10 years probably merits an even lower spot on this list. When the Cyclones did make it to bowl games, they were among the programs with the lowest graduation rates. To Iowa State's credit, the program does have a very loyal following. Last season, the Cyclones were one of about 15 programs in the country to average an attendance mark that was more than 100 percent of stadium capacity. (Iowa State's attendance for the season was 323,197. Its cumulative stadium capacity for the seven home dates was 320,698.)

Can anyone tell me what Snyder's records was in his first five years?

Snyder was 27-28-1 in his first five years.  This was a marked improvement over the team's record over the previous five years, 6-47-1.  That's basically an improvement of four wins per year.  The fatman, meanwhile, has improved his team by 3/5 of a win per year.  Better lock him up with a long term contract before he slips away!
