Already concerned about your favorite college football team in 2007? Hey, there’s always 2008.

If you like UCLA, congrats. Rivals.com has the Bruins rated No. 1 as of now for the 2008 recruiting class with an already huge commitment list of 22. Notre Dame is second followed by Texas, Georgia and Oklahoma.

Locally: Missouri is No. 39, K-State 58th and ku 60th.

Nebraska is at #10, with one 5 star and four 4 stars.

Plus we have five guys committed, but yet to be ranked...they're likely at least three star recruits.

You'll notice as well that we only have one 2 star recruit...a local kid recruited as an athlete.

K-State is at #58, with two 3 stars and seven two stars.

If you check out K-State's class in more detail, even their state rankings are low. I assume these describe how good the guy is compared to other guys playing the same position from that state.

Here are their positional rankings:

14, 13, 11, 8, 7, 7, and several not ranked. Which seems to indicate that even your three star guys are only the 7th ranked players at their positions from Kansas.

So with talent like that coming in, how in the hell can you ever even be competitive in the Big 12?

As long as Bill Callahan is coaching the Corn how are you ever going to have a shot at winning the Big 12?  And don't give me any make believe North Championship garbage.

Yeah, you guys have been doing that for what, 4 years now?  And what do you have to show for it?  A weak appearance in the CCG beating out a Weak North only to get it handed to you by a team that eventually -also- lost thier bowl game?

Meanwhile, KSU with an "inferior" set of recruits, in one year, was only 1 conference win away from being in the CCG...  with a first year coach no less.  Fact is, NU would have been smoked by Rutgers as well. Not because your team is worse, but because your coach is.   No amount of recruiting can fix coaching.

LOL at you for not getting it.

Yep. We'll finally have seniors on the field that Callahan recruited to play in this system, rather than guys brought to Lincoln to run the option.

We smoked you at home, and won the Big 12 North Championship, played in a New Year's Day Bowl...we're making progress. This year we'll win the Big 12.

How do you figure that? NU was 6-2 in conference, you were 4-4. That's two games, plus wince we thrashed you, we had the tie-breaker. So that's a two game advantage and a tie-breaker.

We're showing steady improvement, and kept it close against USC, Oklahoma, and Auburn. This year we start beating those guys, as our offense is fully online. No more upperclassmen brought in to run the option. These are Callahan's guys, and it's time to see what his offense can do with them in it.

    The very best.
If KSU had played NU later in the year, (when we were a well-oiled machine) is there any doubt we would have crushed UN?

Thus, KSU would have been the north champs.

Unreal when you think about it. Prince was a schedule phapau (sp?) away from a north title in his 1st year.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Didn't know the defense, which gave up more yards per game than Missouri, ran the option.

Give me a breakdown of all the experienced senior starters next year.

Yep, you looked like one well-oiled machine in your bowl game against little ole Rugers.. The oil must still be flowing as Freeman looked like a world-beater in your spring game.

1. A good coach should be able to win with Juniors. Hell, Our Good coach last year won with Freshman.  Even knocking off a top 5 team with them.  See the difference?

2.  Congrats.  That was the one game that seperated us.  Had we won that game we would have been tied in conference play with us having the tie breaker.  I really don't have a response to that.  So good job.  you have score board. But winning the North Championship is nothing to brag about these days.  It's not like they give out a trophy for the North Championship...   New years day bowl?  Again congrats; receiving that bid was more a situation of perspective than how good you actually were.  Our opponent was probably harder than yours.  We each lost.  The type of bowl it was only gives credit to you winning the north, again nothing to brag about and you were one loss away from not even being in that situation.

3.  See answer to #2.  You see we win the KSU vs. NU game; We have 5 conf. wins.  You lose that game you have 5 conf. wins.   I know math is hard for you and all but surely subtracting one win and placing it in the loss column isn't too hard.

4. Heard that last year.  What's your excuse going to be when you do nothing this year?  'Cally's 1st recruiting class wasn't as good as his second.  Now that the GOOD recruits are seniors, we'll see improvement.'  How long will you hold on to these delusions?    :bootyshake:

Actually you are wrong... the guys who are SR's were still pretty much Solich's class of 04.  Callahan only had a couple of weeks to recruit, so 05 is his real first class.  Those guys will be JR's this year.

Is this your cop-out for another five loss season to come?

If you want to take it that way, that is fine.  But, I highly doubt we lose more than 3.  I predicted 4 losses last season(that included the Big 12 Championship and our bowl, because I knew we would be going to both)... so I was off by 1.  We lose to Texas, USC, and our bowl... Fiesta... ;)

All the bitching aside, I feel this is going to be one of the most unpredictable Big 12 seasons in awhile. There are several talented QB's in the conference and there are too many teams that are unpredictable. Baylor is on the rise, sort of. Who knows what Iowa St. is gonna do, Colorado could be a sleeping giant with what Hawk has the ability to do with a team. McGee could lead A&M somewhere if Franchione doesn't "Pinkel" another season. Mizzou could do damage, if they can back up their delusional fan base's trash talk. Tech will be Tech, have a couple wins, one being an upset. ku, well, yeah. KSU, will Freeman progress? NU, can Keller play in the Big 12 and what about the Dline? OSU is looking scary and improving yearly. And then you got the always tough OU and UT. Should be very interesting. Anyone else getting antsy in their pantsy for September?
