Couldn't believe it, but visibly JH does look like the biggest LB on the team. Maybe someone can light a fire under his arse and get him moving in the right direction (i.e. towards the guy w/ the ball). I thought the Ginger was the best LB, but that's b/c other than J. Moore and BH he was the only one that ever recorded a tackle.

JH seems to generally be in the area of the guy with the ball, he just seems to either get deeked out of his cleats or his arm tackle just doesn't quite bring the guy down. He has the fundamentals of Smoke.

He subed in and got one at bat and flied out. We 15 run ruled the other team so we only played 3 innings. Nice guy kinda quiet, said practice was going well. Although i did play against Houlik and Jack Reed and I've never seen a softball fly that far. Talked to one of the guys on the other team and they said they hit the lights once. :ohno:

Laton Dowling evaluation up on ESPN:
Dowling is an explosive vertical attacker with impressive strength and power. Will most likely start his career off at outside linebacker and eventually grow into a defensive end if his body continues to physically develop. Has good height with a thickly-built, strong frame. Shows good short-range speed, quickness and burst to the football for his size. Makes adequate reads between the tackles and does a decent job mirroring/redirecting through the trash. Shows good upper-body strength and short-area power at the point of attack. Holds his base well and jolts blockers back on contact. Most effective when pursuing upfield and pressuring. Very difficult one-on-one block for running backs when blitzing. While he can run through most blocks he does show difficulty slipping the cutoff and sifting through the wash laterally. Opens his whole body up. His ability to redirect sharply and breakdown in space is our biggest concern when projecting for the next level as well as long speed. Tends to overrun the cutback and struggles to recover sharply. Coverage skills are marginal but he does show more-than-adequate acceleration closing on the football underneath. If he grows into a defensive end, bend and ability to play flat down the line of scrimmage will likely be issues. That said, Dowling has a large frame, good short-range speed and upfield burst for a defender with his bulk. Plays the game fast and physical and has some good tools to polish and develop at the next level. Could get a look at middle linebacker as well. May be falling under the radar and would project higher as a prospect if he had better hip-fluidity.

Keithen proved much better under Snyder than under Prince...which of course everyone did. Despite his fumble...he was a nice back up.
Next year though hopefully have a nicer combo with Flanders or the other freshmen kid as the back up.
