RIP Orient Express.
Honestly, I just prefer "The Nile"
:ku:
-
Haven't been on one in forever.
The Orient Express was awesome though.
-
I went on one for the first time in about ten years last summer. It was a total blast. I used to ride them all the time, so I didn't think anything of it - just kind of sat back and relaxed like I was going on a cruise or something. The acceleration and speed caught me completely off guard. I literally said "holy crap" out loud (I'm not sure I'd ever done that for real before) on the first drop.
-
just a little fwiw, but "roller coaster tycoon" is a salty PC game.
-
I love that first drop on The Mamba.
-
I miss both the zambeezee zinger and the oriant express, but the patriot is pretty bad ass.
Love Roller Coasters.
-
I love any extreme roller coasters! Have any of you all been to six flags Magic Mountain in CA? There are a few "crap your pants" rides there. There was a Batman ride back when the first Batman movie came out, you feet hung freely under you and at one point you swear that your feet are going to smack the ground - but there is a hole in the ground that is covered in that "smoke" stuff, so it appears that you will be a para-palegic for the rest of you life- the illusion is a classic.

What was the stand up coaster at Worlds of Fun about 15-20 years ago? It was called the DDT or something???
I went to WOF for the first time in years last summer and road the Patriot about 10 times. Went on a weekday about 11 AM. It was great.

Salty, very salty indeed.
-
the mamab was really scary, i felt like an old pussy when i got off. (i was at WOF with 5 girls who all loved it)
they rode it again. i didn't.
-
they rode it again. i didn't.
Oh man. That's bad. I already had my first dose of amusement park fun this year. I did ten "thrill" rides in about four hours. I started to feel a little sick during hour three.
-
it's really not bad. i just prefer not to feel like my heart is going to come out of my chest and/or stop beating when the ride stops.
the chicks got back in line, i got a gatorade.
-
At work, me and a group of people go to WOF every year...
The boomarang always &@#%s me up... I get made fun of at work due to being a self proclaimed pussy because I won't ride it unless it's the last ride of the day. Something about going upsidedown - backwards just makes me sick to my stomache.... never thrown up from it though.
-
Come down to Busch Gardens in Tampa and ride Sheikra (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheikra). Two face-down straight vertical drops, and they leave you hanging at the edge of the first descent, so you can stare at the ground a few extra seconds before you drop.
kono
-
i love the boomarang but rarely get to ride it when i make it to WOF cause everyone i normally go with won't ride it for the reason of going backwards upside etc..
-
I love coasters, I'm headed to cedar point in ohio this summer. 17 roller coasters including one that goes 120 mph and 410 ft high. I I cant wait.

Isn't that the one that goes STRAIGHT fricken down???? You got a link to it?? I think I got the pictures in an email, and the last pic showed a chick who just got off, and had pissed her pants.
-
On their website they got a picture. It pretty much looks like a nascar track but with half of it completely vertical and the other half horizontal.
-
Cedar Point is definitely roller coaster heaven.

I got made fun of in HS for saying "the nile" was my fav WOF park ride. And they weren't even the cool kids making fun.

I loved that ride when I was younger and didn't care that the water smelled like dead fish and Poop. Was also cooler when there where jets of water that randomly shot up in the air.
Now... not so much. They should have a shower and soap located at the end of that ride.

haha, I can't remember the last time I went to WoF....It's about 10 minutes from my house now and I wouldn't go near it. By what the locals say (people who have lived here a lot longer than I), i don't think any of them have gone in 10 years either.
Either way, I was scared early on by my dad tricking me in going on the zambizi zinger when I was like 10. Since then, I haven't liked coasters at all. Although, when I was in high school, I beared it to go on all of them with my girlfriend at the time, so I wouldn't look like a big pussy. :katpak:

Who here, has been on the Tower of Terror or the HULK at Disney World?

The Hulk at Universal Studios/Orlando, FL... I like the Batman ride at Six Flags in St. Louis but, the Hulk was better.

I know the one you are talking about - first it was stand up, then it was sit down and then they got rid of it and put up the Timber Wolf....wasn't the stand up one called the EXT or something like that???
-

Tower of Terror was great. Waiting two hours in line to ride it wasn't.

2 Hours of waiting? That totally BLOWS! We went during the weekday, (in August, after school started up) about 6:00, and didn't have to stand in line at all. Rode it a couple of times. FUN!
-
We went in 94 within months of it first opening.
-
Last time I went to WoF I was going to ride the Mamba. It was a busy day so the line was long, probably 20 minutes or so. Finally we get to nearly the front of the line when we get stopped. The guy operating the ride says "Sir, we have a disabled rider coming up and it is our policy to let them go to the front of the line, and they can choose to ride again afterwards. Sorry, blah blah". I'm like fine, whatever, no problem. Up comes the retard, it's this lady and her son, the lady is retarded but not the son. It's not the vegetable type of retarded either, it's the funny kind, like she would probably say something stupid and everyone feels awkward kind of retarded, but not where she couldn't function on her own in every day life. That kind of pissed me off, I was expecting someone in a wheelchair or at least some kind of physical disability. She may have limited use of her left arm (the retarded kind where they have it bent over or something) but that's it.
Well, she rode, and then they asked her if she wanted to ride again, I looked her right in her retarded little beady eyes, and she said "YEEEEEES", so I said &@#% it, I left the line and shortly after I left the park never to return again.

Good Story!
But you really missed out on a great ride.

nah this one was next door though. I remember what you are talking about though.
This one was green and you rode the chain in a twisting circle all the way to the top, then it dropped you down and through a couple small underground tunnels.
Here are some pics of the old zambezi.

drood......thanks for the link. I loved the zambezi zinger. That was a really fun coaster. It is now in Columbia?????????
-
Never been on a big one. I'm scared crapless.

Never been on a big one. I'm scared @#%$less.
Pussy.
-
I know it's really bad. Went on a small one when I was little, never again. Couldn't enjoy it.

Cedar Point likes to build record setting coasters! In this one shot, you can see the world's first continuous-circuit roller coasters to exceed the 200, 300, and 400- foot marks.

What happened to the Orient Express? I loved that ride when I was a kid. Also the Tower of Terror scared the crap out of me. I literally watched a guys back pack rise above his head and slam down when we stopped it was crazy.

Anybody here about the girl that got her legs sliced off by cable on a ride at Six Flags?

lol, it was my own editing that &@#%ed it up. I said a cord, but it turned out that it wasn't a cord after all so I changed it..

Joyland is the best. The wooden roller coaster has decapitated someone before so it does have that going for it.

I wouldn't say that "cable" is incorrect there. Look earlier in the sentence.

My bad. I meant to say "Anybody here HEAR about the girl that..."

I just got back WOF a couple of days ago. I liked the Patriot the best.
