Title: Fantasy Baseball
Post by: catsfan20012002 on March 19, 2007, 01:07:43 PM
Well.....My draft is over and I think I did a pretty respectable job. Tell me what you think. Here's my team:

C - Mike Piazza and Brian McCann
1B - Derrek Lee and Shea Hillenbrand
2B - Brian Roberts, Rickie Weeks and Josh Barfield
3B - Joe Crede and Adrian Beltre
SS - Jose Reyes and Bobby Crosby

Outfield/DH - Carl Crawford, Chone Figgins, Alfonso Soriano and Jonny Gomes, Dave Roberts

Pitchers - Gustavo Chacin, Roger Clemens, Joe Nathan, Oliver Perez, Francisco Rodriguez, James Shields, Justin Verlander and Chien-Ming Wang.

Thoughts? Feelings?

how many teams are in your league?

You have like 3 too many players on your team.

your in-field is weak.  McCann and reyes are nice but 1b is awful and drafting three 2b (four including chone) when the position is weak is dumb.  I would've taken brian roberts and chone and left off weeks and barfield.  Soriano and Crawford are good, chone is decent, but if the draft was this deep I think you could've done better.  Horrible draft in pitching.  You did well to get two great closers but Chacin is mediocre, clemens is only going to play for half a season, oliver perez is marginal, verlander is your only respectable starter and Chien-Ming Wang has proven to only be worth starting in Yankee Stadium.

I'd say your draft sucked balls.

Me personally, I'd drop everyone and start over from scratch....

D-Lee should be alright at 1b. He played solid when he returned after his wrist injury last year, plus he has Soriano and Ramirez in the line up, so he'll get pitches to hit. Piazza could work out alright now that he's in the AL and will DH. He'll get a lot more AB's this year.

Is anyone gonna take a chance on Sammy Sosa this year?

I'm aware of that. He's had a solid spring training so far (hitting .417 3hr, 8 rbi, 3xbh).
This is off topic, but I hear the royals have been playing Teahen in center the past couple games. Could this lead to an eventual trade of DeJesus so Butler can play lf or rf? Butler has been the Royals top batter in ST(.448 2hr, 10rbi), but they won't play him over Sweeney at dh.

No.  They are trying out Teahen strictly for backup purposes..if Gathright doesn't make the team.
