Or at least does he meltdown Rose style?
-
No real meltdown yet, says his problem is with the league.
Weiser will be on BTL @ 5pm.
-
Thank you,
anything specific, did he call out weiberg?
-
He's talking about the NIT selection process.
In other words: WGAF so far.

Questioning the validity of the league tourney. Only bad things can come from it. Suggested moving it up to December.
Sick of the Big XII being a step child.
Most of the people on the committee believe the MVC to be stronger than the B12.

I like this idea. I'll start a new thread.

Ah, the rant has begun. B!tching out everyone affiliated with the Big XII front office, on promoting the conference and its crapty TV deal.
-
LOL @ Danny clowning Whataburger Big XII sponsorship
-
Whataburger > Phillips 66.

The real rant has commenced, re: K-State knowing ahead of time that they were out.

Wow. Now Kevin is saying that the Big 12 was openly trying to hold KSU down.

You really need to work on your posting style.

Who would actually spend time trying to work on a posting style? You seem to respond to me a lot, I guess my style is doing something to attract you.

You apparently give a sh1t enough to post 110 times.

I caught the end of someone supporting the committee's decision to leave out KSU, but felt KSt8 was the better team. KK repeated that the committee was supposed to put the best teams in the tourney. Mentioned that based on marquee wins, OSU should have gone instead of Tek as Tek didn't have any big noncon wins.
Also, mentioned that the Big12 should penalize soft noncon schedules. Klink said it wouldn't work cuz ukan and UT would raise a stink because if they lost, it would jeopardize a 1 seed.
Just played Huggins 'making history' statement.
Making a statement that swapping the Cal/XU away games with 150-250 rpi teams at home would've gotten them in (24 wins), but Huggs took a chance to face tougher teams.

Leaks and Leaks and Leaks and Lunardi and Weiberg and Weiberg's a failure and Vegas is laughing at Tech
-
I'm laughing at Illinois. Look at their resume compared to K-State. It's an absolute joke.
-
He's really making huge assumptions regarding what Weiberg said to the committee.
Heck, he's making a huge assumption saying that the committee asked for his input.

Agreed.

Love his idea of lobbying for Fox to broadcast Big XII sports. National football and basketball games on Saturdays would be a bigger deal than Big Monday.

What do you think of the snub? Coolhawks seems to be enjoying himself.

Now that is something tangible the Big 12 Commissioner could do that would affect the conference positively.

Just looked at their schedule. They have 4 road victories, 3 over 10-20ish teams, and 1 over Bradley (NIT team). Not very impressive.
-
Kietz and Weiser going at it now.
-
Weiser thinks team names should be removed from the selection committee's databases and discussion, and use codes for each team instead, to ensure that conference affiliations and personal biases are truly removed from the equation.

That would be impossible, since they would see the schedules and have a good idea who they are.

To some extent, but remember, team names would be removed from the schedules as well. You would only see RPI numbers (or whatever other ranking system they might create). So unless the committee members memorized a ton of RPIs, they wouldn't know who they were looking at.

It's incredibly retarded to think that. Amazingly retarded. The answer to teams getting screwed is to award the bid to conference regular season champs. The 4-5 spots this year that were taken because teams like Xavier, Butler, Nevada, etc. lost would have gone to teams like Syracuse, WV, Drexel and KSU.

How is it "amazingly retarded" to think removing team names from the equation would make the system more fair?

How many confrences are there in D-1 bball?
-
Anything that stops the commission pushing their own conference favorites I am for.
-
How many confrences are there in D-1 bball?
31 conferences get auto bids

And how many of those conferences' autobids have won an NCAA Tourney game in the past 5 years?

Is that your argument?

I say if your conference is ranked in the bottom 16, your tourney winner must play a play-in game to get a bid. Another way to go would be to revoke a conference's autobid if its winner hasn't won a Tourney game in 5 years.

That might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard an athletic director say. Really. "So, committee, you cannot base your decision on any games you've watched this year. Nope. Only on which RPI lost/won against other RPIs." We all know how trustworthy the RPI is, right? If tourney selection were all about a computerized ranking (like, you know, the RPI), we wouldn't have had a chance in hell of getting picked for the tourney. It wouldn't be possible to do a blind selection WITHOUT some kind of raking - the committee members' heads would explode. Here's a better idea - get a balanced committee (call me crazy, but maybe the Big 12 should be represented in some way) and implement some checks and balances so that teams with laughable resumes like Illinois and Arkansas don't make it in.
