Title: JUCO PG?
Post by: jarrr on February 28, 2007, 09:22:57 PM
Do you think the last scholarship should be used on a pg. Theres no HS points left, plus it would be nice to get a real PG whos ready. Im personally sick of seeing guys not being able to dribble. Some names to watch out for:

Dom Tilford: NM JC. Played at UC for a year behind Devan Downey and 2 senior PGs. Was pretty solid play IMO, was just not physically ready for the BE at the time and averaged 2.5 ppg.

Freddy Little: Miam-Dade. Martin seems to have the inside track on Florida guys.

Angel Santiago: Kansas JUCO

Nolan Richardson: Kansas JUCO

Even if its another wing? Great, lets just back the ball up the court all next year like this year and pass it around the perimiter.

Yeah...our problem isn't too many wings...it's too many wings that aren't very good at offense.

Don't trade an elite wing for a mediocre point guard because that's what Andy Katz says this team needs most.

Young, Stewart, and Pullen should all fit the bill of point guard just fine.  If anything, they need to get a JUCO big man in case Colon and Bennett don't improve next year.

Actually Im most interested in some one who can put pressure on the ball on defense and keep PGs from absolutely killing them.

Good luck finding a Juco PG that's also a hard-nosed defender.

Send Asst. Coach Frank Martin out to inspect le troops.  Now, when Martin finds l'appropriate troop he calls Huggs and transmits secret troop/player data to Huggs.  Huggs makes critical recruiting decision based upon intel supplied by Martin.

I agree with Rusty, take the best player available even if we're seemingly stacked at the position already.

Young will be better, Clent Stewart is servicable.  Brown and Pullen are coming in.  We need a scorer.

Clent will average 12 and 3.5 assists per game next year.

Best player available.  It would be great to get a servicable JUCO big; a Tony Kitt/Kelvin Howell type would be very good to go with TE.

At this point, I don't care what position the player takes up as long as he can make a shot. Any offensive weapon would be nice.

God I wish Devon Downey didn't goto South Carolina so quickly. I know he wanted to go home but that team isn't the greatest. Our team next year looks good but he could have made it a hell of a lot better. It would have been nice to have a player like him come in. The kid could dominate, as a Frosh too.
