Title: Quote from the OSU Scout board
Post by: kougar24 on February 27, 2007, 11:14:20 AM
Quote
I honestly have nothing against KSU but I lost a lot of respect for the University when they hired Huggins.  He has always presented himself as an arrogant "look at me" type of person.  His teams at Cincy always played hard but were seemingly full of thugs and underachieved come tourney time.  I'm just glad he's not the face of the OSU BB program.

I guess he forgot about Sutton's TWO DUIs, and that lil' troubled fella they got down there by the name of JamesOn Curry.

LOL. (http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?S=181&F=2336#S=181&F=2336&T=159059)

Wow.  Of any program in the league, they have no case to make against Huggins.

And a "look at me" type attitude? If you know anything about Huggins you know thats not how he is at all, and especially off the court he's the exact opposite, but that's peoples perception and I think that's perfectly fine with all of us.

I get a kick out of the underachieved in tourney play because he's never beaten a higher seed.  Seems to me that is meeting expectations (otherwise, they would have been ranked higher).  I think it's more of a problem to not beat lower seeds, I think coach Self would fit this category.

That is highly hypocritical!  Why is it that everyone thinks Huggs is a no good dirty rotten scoundrel?  Jealousy?

I seem to recall an awful lot of KSU folks who, upon the mention of Huggins' name in connection with the KSU coaching vacancy, said they'd rather have anyone else for precisely this reason.

Like...all of gopowercat.com.

I had some good arguments dragging Snyder's name through the mud back in the day.

Yep, about 95% of the powertards were firmly against even considering Huggins, the remainder thought he should receive token consideration before we hired McDermott or Anderson.  Thank God they have no real influence.

Heh, I love archives:

I never question your passion Rusty, but you're setting yourself up to be extremely pissed.  I'm all for the aim high stuff your talking about it, but Huggins won't set foot in Manhattan Kansas anytime soon.

Personally, I hope we contact Hobbs and Anderson first, then look at guys like McDermott and Lowery if they don't work out.

It was the greatest 4 week period of our message board posting career. The way we were vindicated...damn.

Everyone is entitled to stupidity once in a while.

I like how fatty called me out when this board started.  Good times.

Am I incorrect about Sutton having 2 DUIs? I swear I heard that after he got his last one (which was aggravated DUI, btw).

More gems from that thread:

OSU fans don't cut and run. Let me guess Kougar, you must be a Democrap.

LOL, what the hell is he talking about?

I love it when others come to our board to criticize our posts/team/coach.

After that very poster started the whole thing by talking about Hugs' past at UC.

Quote
Curry, by definition, may not be anyones poster child, but certainly is not a thug...[Huggins'] teams there were full of thugs(who didn't graduate)

Okay, so by OSU logic, drug dealers are not thugs, but people who don't graduate college are. Awesome.

Just take this over there.  It blows anything Huggs ever did out of the water.

I find it highly entertaining when people start complaining about the likes of a Bob knight or Bob Huggins. These guys have a passion for Basketball and the desire to win that is unsurpassed. I have nothing but respect for these guys. Yet the press spends most of their time trying to knock them down. Yet year after year they manage to recruit some of the best talent in the Country. The same can be said for Eddie Sutton. I doubt that most that read this post could live under the scrutiny that these men live 24/7. Yet these guys have dealt with it successfully for years. Let one DUI happen and you would think these guys were lower than a serial murderer. Come on folks get a grip or get some nads which ever!~

And to those that can't handle chicken tossing! This birds for you!! :twobirds: :twobirds:

IIRC, ISU led at halftime, too.

LOL! I got banned from GoPokes.com, and the reason they gave me was because I said Eddie Sutton got a DUI.

LOLs all over the place.

The press hates the Bobs because neither of them cater to the press. This really upsets their arrogant asses.

Don't forget that James Dickey is one of their assistant coaches....

"While Dickey's status has been in limbo, the Red Raiders lost 11 of their last 12 games to finish 9-19, their worst record in his 10 seasons. This was Tech's fourth straight losing season after a run of three solid years, which included going 30-2 and reaching the NCAA tournament's round of 16 in 1995-96.

The program derailed shortly thereafter because of NCAA sanctions that stripped nine scholarships the past four years. The school's violations included recruiting and unethical conduct.

As the losses mounted, attendance plummeted. The men were consistently outdrawn by Tech's highly ranked women's team at the new United Spirit Arena."
