Rusty or someone found a site that had vids of his high school games. Maybe it was fan.
-
PSImedialive.com has some pullen games.

I call bullcrap:
I could be wrong, but I think the Clent Stewart will get the lions share (31-33) of the minutes at point next year. You guys have an outstanding class, the only guy I'm not sold on is Pullen.
Dude, where did you get the Pullen video?
Our PG situation doesn't really change much next year...we just add more combo guards.
The videos I've seen of him were posted on youtube a while back. My brother who posts on gopowertards e-mailed them to me when he predicted a FF next year. Its been probably 2 months since I've seen anything else from Pullen so I could be wrong.
The psi videos are borderline unwatchable.

i found one that is pretty good.

I like Pullen. He takes things personally. “They were on the cover of (Rise) magazine,” Pullen said. “We’re using all that as motivation. I have a copy of it hanging in my locker. Everybody is making us out to be dogs.” - talking about neighborhood rival St. Joseph.

Of course some random phag poster knows more about the technical aspects and ins and outs of development of high school basketball players into college players than a coach of 20+ years who has sent several players to the NBA.
-
All I know is that he was 90% from behind the arc for about an hour on Monday.
-
I am just not sold on the Basketball IQ of the Phog.

If you had a higher Basketball IQ though, you'd know that the 3-point line is way too close.

Yeah, the East west one isn't bad.

Like I said earlier, my brother sent me a link to several, not just pullen, a while back. I'll see if he can send me them again. And I never claimed to know more than Huggins about a recruit, just that I didn't think he showed the promise that the other guys in your class did. Its not like recruits never pan out. Jeremy Case was sharpshooter in high school, and he's hit what, 3 threes in 3 years at ku?
-
After watching the Proviso East vs. Proviso West first half, I have no idea how East has never lost a conference game under Pullen.
They don't really play defense, don't box out, don't really work that hard, and there were several possessions where Pullen just stood in one spot the entire time and didn't touch the ball.
Also, Pullen isn't the "true" point guard everyone is thinking/hoping he is. He can score in the lane and handle the ball, but he isn't a TJ Ford type.
Overall, he's still pretty rough. I'd be shocked if he ever starts next year. He'll get minutes, and probably do pretty well, I just think it'll take him some time to adjust to the level of hard work and defense Huggins demands.
-
Watching the same as Rusty. Pullen will be a nice player, but there is a reason he's not ranked in the top 100 and a lot of it is b/c his game needs some polish. He's a solid athlete and a solid shooter and looks to be his team's leader. He'll be able to play PG for us, but he'll always be more of a combo guy, which is fine for Huggins' system. Based on what I saw, he's a better shooting version of Blake Young and his impact next year will probably be felt more at the 2G than at the PG. I find it highly doubtful he beats out Stew for the PG spot barring injury.

I don't think he'd beat out Young, either.

If you find it, would love it if you posted here (if they are different vids than posted).

More Proviso East/Pullen game videos. (http://psimedialive.com/schedule.aspx) They have 3 on there you can watch for free, but only 1 from this season.

This board has leaned a lot about the point guard position lately.
-
I've seen 3rd and 4th grade teams play with more intensity then that.
-
He was quoted earlier saying that he committed to Huggins because he needs a coach that will yell at him and get on him.. Maybe his coach just sucks complete ass and he has no motivation? Dammit, I just really want a point guard next year.

We got a PG. In fact, our top 2 PGs are returning, when is the last time K-State could say that? :)

They aren't true points. And the point guard that we got won't be beneficial for a while.

Pullen nor Brown will ever by "true PGs" either. That doesn't bother me though, b/c Huggs' teams in the past have been fine without a "true PG" and this year has shown that as long as guys are bought in his system can function very efficiently. The fact that we have no true low block scorer and haven't shot the ball well but still have good assist and assist to TO numbers magnifies this even more.

Yea, but his 4 best teams all did have true PGs on them. Its just hard to get a good PG. I am hoping Brown has PG skills. From what Ive seen it sounds like he excels at passing and handling the ball. Pullen sounds like more of a shooter. Their key targe in 08 at PG(Cashmere Wright) just commited to Clemson and it looks like all the 08 PGs are going off the board. Maybe they can find a JUCO.

Stephon Hannah is a &@#%ing bitch.
-
it might be hard to get a really good point to jump on board 1 year behind pullen/brown. 09 or even 10 might be more likely.
-
I'm not sure what other options we have for PGs. I think Brown and Pullen are the future in the eyes of the staff, but I'm sure if a great JUCO PG is out there they'll take him. However, most really good JUCO PGs are combo guards anymore; I'd hardly call Hannah a "true PG", he's a combo guard who can score and distribute. As Rusty contends, I'm not even sure what a "true PG" is anymore. I'd say Richardson at NU is the closest thing to what most people seem to be defining as a "true PG", but I have no idea.

92 team that went to final 4 had Van Exel,Tarrance Gibson, and AD Jackson. All were quick and could play point.
93 team had Van Exel and Jackson. Went to Elite 8. Was probaly the 2nd best team Huggs had.
00 team was #1 all year and Huggs best team before Martin broke his leg. By far best team Huggs had. Had Satterfield and Logan at PG.
02 team won 31 games. Had 1st AA Steve Logan at PG.
-
Collins at ku is to me, a modern day "PG" and I'd like for Huggins to find a similar type/style of player.*
*goes without saying :-X
-
The modern day "true PG" is simply someone that can penetrate and defend the other PG from penetrating. Something neither Young or Stewart do well.

Yeah, I could agree with that, it just seems the current version of the PG is a guy who can and will score, not some like say Bobby Hurley. I will say I was amazed at the number of times Clent penetrated and even got to the rim and scored against ku.

Dominic James?
Thanks for the info, jarr.

If you were disappointed in how Pullen appears in the video, your expectations were too high to begin with. He looks like he has the potential to be a major upgrade for us at point guard down the road. He looks like he has much more natual ability to shoot, drive to the basket, and either score or find the open man down low off of those drives than anyone playing for us this year. He's no Sherron Collins at this point, but I find it hard to belive that anyone actually thought that he was.
And to continue the point guard discussion, it is a misconception that what people consider to be true point guards don't score. I can't think of any point guards that didn't have ability and willingness to score. Bobby Hurley, for example, averaged 12.4 ppg for his career and made 40% of his three point attempts. Scoring just wasn't his primary role.
