Title: OJ Mayo
Post by: pufizzle on February 22, 2007, 06:06:20 PM
Mayo's team is playing on ESPN2 right now.  Would still rather have Walker any day :ksu:

Me too.  As far as talent goes, they're probably about equal.  But Walker has a genuine love for basketball and the environment, while Mayo has a genuine love for money and himself.

I'd still love to have him :(

Wow, OJ and company getting destroyed.  The score is 22-10 with 5 minutes left in the half.

Wow.  OJ looking horrible.  Forcing shots, hasn't made a single one since I've started watching.  He's sure taken his fair share though.  #1 recruit in the country?  He's not even the best player on his own team.  Patterson is better.  Definitely not ready for the NBA.

Of course, that's my uneducated analysis of watching him play for five minutes.

Plus he's wearing a short sleeved t-shirt under his jersey which means he HAS to be a tool.

lol.

His team has fought their way back into it, no thanks to him(3 turnovers, no made shots the entire time I've been watching.)

Just as I say this he is fouled and goes to the line.

Finally hits an impressive shot from behind the arc.  From way back there.

His team is very, very bad at rebounding and picking up loose balls.

I guess my criticism of him in that five minutes is very unwarranted.  OJ Mayo is an extremely good basketball player.  36-33 at halftime, he's scored 19.  The most any other player on his team has scored is 3.

OJ has benefited from having a stud scorer like Bill Walker next to him the past few years, it will be interesting to see if he can pull his weight without Bill.

Whereas Walker gets along great with Huggs....they never fight......personalities blend perfectly.

We make headline news for winning the NC

Huggs goes out to drink to celebrate.....

Walker picks him up from the bar and takes him home....

Walker >>>>>>>>>>>>Mayo in more areas than basketball

They should probably play some defense on that Fisher guy.  Especially on the perimeter.  I think he's made his last 5 shots or something.

mayo is the typical highschool hothead.

Haha.....Mayo just intentionally grabbed a guy and fouled him so he could tie his shoe.  Never seen that before.

Mayo/Walker/Beasey would have been a great recruiting class.

Perhaps even a GRCOAT.  :'(

What's up with ESPN not having Beasley in the top 5?  He's number 1 in scout and rivals isn't he?

The ESPN list only counts high school players.  Beasley is a prep school player.

Terrible coaching.........draw up a play where Mayo comes off a screen and have one of the players roll to the basket......they would be wide open.  I don't think St. patrick even knew there were 4 other players on the court the last 7 seconds.

Holy crap.  OJ deciding he wants to win this game apparently.  Halfcourt line, whatever, who cares.  I'm gonna make a shot from wherever I feel like taking one.

Huntington High would have won this game by now if they decided to play defense.

I watched Lebron and his Notre Dame HS squad on ESPN a few years ago and said, "Bah!  This guy isn't anything special!  What's all the hype about?!"  I have since disqualified myself from judging the talent of high school basketball players.  I don't expect to ever give myself the privilege again.

So what's wrong with that?  Mayo misses Walker no question about it. Walker will be at least OJs equal no doubt in my mind, Maybe even better! Attitude is already!

I bet it doesn't hurt near as bad as it did when Roy left you guys. If Mayo wins a national championship at USC then and only then will I be disappointed that we backed off of him.

I hate that O.J didn't come to K-state he is the next Kobe Bryant. The guy is by far the best in the 2007 class, as was seen in this high school game.
