Looks like Tech to me but if they melt down we'll play ... Mizzou since they own the tiebreakers over Tech, Okie Lite, and OU.
-
Hopefully not tech. I chronicled their excellence in the big 12 tournament with Knight.
Hopefully mizzou.

What if we end up in third?

Well then I'm going to be wrong aren't I?

Yuck. I don't think I want to face Mizzou again this year.

Yeah, I think I'd rather face Tech than Missouri or even Nubb, fatty's stats aside.
-
My perfect scenario is that we play Mizzou in our first game and A&M in our second game. I think we can beat both.
The worst case scenario IMO is Tech in our first game and (if we beat them) ku in our second game.
I think we can beat A&M. I don't think we can beat ku. Or Tech for that matter. I just don't think we match up well with them. For that matter, I don't think anyone matches up well with ku.

Right now there will essentually be a 3 way tie for 5th (OU, Tech, MU). After tonight, an NU win and atm loss would put those two a half game behind those 3, essentually making a 5 way tie for 5th. If that tie stayed in place, I'm assuming MU gets the nod b/c they beat both Tech and OU, but I'm not for sure. Big 12 Tiebreaker procedures. (http://psyclone.home.mchsi.com/Basketball/Tiebreaker.htm)
What we do know is that it will take a complete collapse (1-2 or worse) by the Cats to finish lower than 4th.
-
nebraska has the easiest remaining schedule. though they would have to win 5 strait to finish 5th. it is possible: @bu, mu, isu, @cu, osu
-
It's tough to beat a team 3 times in one season. I don't think I want to face Mizzou again. I think we actually match up well with Tech, and they just caught us at the perfect time earlier.
-
As it stands right now we'd play the winner of Missouri vs. Colorado. Looks like an easy path to Saturday. :ksu:
-
I'd still rather play Mizzou than Tech. Although I think beating Tech would assure us of an NCAA spot, losing to them could bump them in and us out. I'd rather go the safe route and play the team we've already beat twice this year.
No matter who we get in the first game, if we win, I'd REAAAALLY like another shot at A&M. I think we match up extremely well against them.

I know. I still can't figure out how they have such a good record.
I'd definitely rather be on their side of the bracket rather than ku's.

I'd like to see KSU match up with Tech, then A&M in the first two games, assuming a 4th place finish...
1. We get to avenge a bad loss
2. We get a shot at a very quality win..
3. We'd be playing on Sunday...
The thing about the Big 12 Tourney is it doesn't matter much once a team makes it to Saturday because the final isn't really counted in the seeding, etc..
-
Mizzou just keeps playing better as the year goes on. They're the type of team that could do some damage in the Big XII tourney and make a mini-run to Saturday if they keep getting better, because:
1) They have a great scoring point guard.
2) They have another good ball-handling guard, another good slashing guard, and another good shooting guard.
3) They have big men who, when they show up, can play pretty well.
Let's not forget, as fatty reminds us, that Mizzou has some talent. It's beginning to look like their early struggles in conference this year were a result of the team struggling to get the hang of the system and the coach figuring out exactly what he had with the players.
Even if you play Mizzou and win, it hurts you for the next game because the game-long pressure wears you out. I really want no part of this Mizzou team in the Big XII tourney. I'd much rather play OU, OSU, or even Tech.

A&M has a decent big...and a PG that can penetrate..

Pretty easy, really: they have an all-conference-level guard and big man. Combine that with a good group of supporting players like Carter and Kavaliauskas, and voila. Add Law and Jones to our team, and you're probably looking at a Top 15 team, too.

Yeah, Law and Jones are key players for them. Shut them down and you beat A&M. It really is that simple.
They definitely did not respond well to our man defense when we played them early in the year. We had the lead for a lot of that game despite our entire gameplan getting blown to shreds with Bill going down in the first few minutes.
-
I still don't get it, and I think we can beat them.

For aTm, Law and Jones are pretty steady and that gives aTm a consistent inside-out scoring threat. The nights they are really a great team are when Carter and Kavaliauskas are scoring and both are capable of 20 point nights. However, both of those guys have Harris-esque consistency when it comes to scoring. For example, after scoring 50 total in back to back games, Carter followed up with 8 total in back to back games. Kavaliauskas is even more inconsistent.

So do I. KSU matches up with A&M about 100X better than ku.
-
The difference between aTm and KSU: (IMO)
1) Leading scorer (Law) can create his own shot.
2) 2 legit low post scorers. (Jones/Kav)
3) Both have 2 steady scorers (Martin/Hoskins, Law/Jones). Both have another perimeter player (Harris, Carter) that can score 20 when he gets hot. aTm also has an extra post player (Kav) that can score 20 on any given night.
4) aTm is slightly bigger and probably slightly more athletic so they can match-up better and defend a little more consistently.
5) aTm has 2 more years of postseason experience.
If we have Walker all year, we aren't a ton different than aTm besides our size.

I should hope so. ku has loads more talent across the board than aTm.
However, if you can put two players on the floor who are better than their counterparts and have some good supporting players, then you've got a shot at winning the game. (A&M vs. ku)
If you put zero players on the floor who are better than their counterparts and have some good supporting players, then you don't have much of a shot at winning at all. (KSU vs. ku)
